Dragons
Dragons: Dragons are an iconic creature within the magical community, and are also know in the muggle world (they fascinate them). Muggles have been recording dragons in their literature since 2,100 BCE. Dragons are dangerous in both the magical and muggle world, but magical people have more uses for the dragon- namely, in Potions. Such example are the twelve uses for dragon blood, including:
- Anaesthetic
- Pain Killer
- Cleaning Agent
- Disinfecting agent
Dragon heartstring is also use in wand making as the magical core. Wizards and witches use dragon claws, dung, horn, hide, liver, and meat, not limited to potions.
Dragon organs and tissues are also magically resistant.
Dragon Liver: Used in antidote potions, this organ is fibrous and tough, which can be difficult to cut (tip: The Severing Charm has no effect. Spells on the dragon anatomy increase the likelihood of a backfire).
Most recent common ancestor (MRCA): The most recent "parent" species of creature from which separate contemporary species are derived, AKA the single species from which all dragons derived. Caused by extinction and geographic separation, it led to the ten species we have today. This means you can compared two species to find a shared ancestor between them,
Magical dragonologist believe the resistance to magic is found without the dragon's DNA. DNA: Basic coding that determines eye color, hair color, size, basic metabolism, and similar traits in a creature.
Some brief history:
- The Warlock's convention outlawed dragon breeding in 1709
- Chinese Fireball eggs are used in the making of the Fertility and luck potions
- The Romanian Dragon Sanctuary is dedicated to preserving and studying dragons
- Dragon eggs are strictly classified by the Ministry of Magic, classified as Class-A Non-Tradeable Material
Dragon Claws: These find their ways onto school campuses through illicit trade. They are said to boost memory and intelligence as well as focus. They are used by students during examinations, and, like any other artificial stimulant, has dangers. The effects are not permanent, and may wear down your nervous system. When it wears off, it may lead to brain crashes and short term memory problems.
