History Of Magic- Week Eight

Chapter 40

Lesson Eight

Magic and Religion
  • For a long time, Muggles believed magic was a form of power for gods and deities, so many magical beings were considered as leaders or assumed higher authorities in such cultures
  • Natural phenomenons were considered supernatural processes from the religious gods, as they could often not be explained by literal reasoning and sciences
  • Some witches and wizards in those times believed that they were gods or goddesses, using their power to rule over the mundane
  • Most cultures respected magical beings living in their communities, and even gave them the highest respect and honor to be their priests, shamans or even ruler. Ex: Olmecs
  • However, over time, muggles were wary of the magic, worry about it and even condemning it. They decided to take over and rule in their own right.
  • Because of this, religions such as Christianity and Judaism took over, and took a lead in for a dramatic change in the Muggle-Wizard Relation.
