Defence Against The Dark Arts- Week One

Chapter 17

Lesson One:

Wand Lighting Charm: It is a simple Charm that, when performed properly, lights up the tip of the caster's wand. The light produced is a light yellow when charged properly. If you do not charge the spell enough, the light will be white and dimly lit. Overcharging the spell will cause the light to turn a bright red.

Uses: Lumos is not used only for avoiding the dark. You can use it to safely navigate your way around a dangerous area or foe. There are some creatures that do not like bright light. Casting this charm is a sure way to repel them.

Casting: To cast Lumos, you must carefully pronounce the incantation, LOO-mos. The wand movement is simple. Move your wand forward and then move it up into a backwards loop.

Wand Extinguishing Charm: The incantation is Nox, pronounced, NOCKS. A flick of the wand or slight jab in any direction is all that is needed for the movement.
