Aria
Chapter 8
“This way please, follow me. That’s it.” A nice looking teacher with curly black hair waved a pink and gold flag high in the air.
Along with the other new princesses in year one, Aria shuffled along behind her. The labyrinthine hallways seemed endless to Aria, and the older princesses lining them towered over the tiny year ones.
“I am Princess Moana, the nature power tutor, main substitute, and newly appointed,” Princess Moana pointed to a shiny badge on her chest. “Guidance counselor!” At these words, the huddles of older students turned towards the elegant oval lockers and whispered behind their hands to each other.
“This year, we are starting a new advisory program." Princess Moana continued, ignoring the whispering. "The advisories are based on your dorm, and there are two or three advisories for each one. In the advisory, there will be a few older students and a teacher that you can ask for advice any time.”
A little girl with a blue ribbon in her hair looked up at Princess Moana curiously.
“But last year-” The girl started, but Princess Moana cut her off.
“Last year didn’t matter.” The girl huffed and her already ruffled bangs fluttered. Princess Moana ignored the scandalous whispering again. Aria was starting to like Princess Moana. “Okay, Princess Megan, Princess Colette and… Princess Aria! You’re with me. Wait in here, I’ll be there in a minute.”
Somehow, Aria finded herself trailing behind the blue ribbon girl and a tall girl wearing dramatic eye makeup.
The room’s ceiling was huge and domed. A box of orange tulle sat discarded in a corner and calming tapestries of the beach adorned the walls and windows instead. The soft filtered light fell onto a collection of Princess.
Two older girls wearing a family crest with a spindle sat quietly with their hands folded in their laps. A girl Aria recognized from the ceremony kicked a pink and gold beach ball around the walls. Aria caught a glimpse of sneakers under her standard white uniform dress
A girl with white-blond hair stood staring at a chart on the wall. Then she screwed up her eyes like she was concentrating her hardest and stomped. A pile of snow appeared out of nowhere. A huddle of older students snickered at the snow girl.
Aria had never felt so alone.
“Um, I’m Colette.” The princess with the bow said as she twirled a lock of her brown hair around her finger. “Of the French Countryside Kingdom.”
“Aria,” Aria said meekly. “Of Agrabah.”
“You’re Colette,” One of the older girls said, facing the two.
“Do we know anyone from the French Countryside?” The other older girl looked as confused at Colette. Aria did a double take.
“What, have you never seen twins before?” The beach ball flied across the room. One of the older girls (it was impossible to tell which) marched over to the beach ball and picked it up.
“Vanellope, don’t throw-”
“Relax, Fauna. Or Flora. Whoever you are.” Vanellope turned to address Aria and Colette. “Hey newbies, I am Vanellope von Shweetz from Sugar Rush. And those guys are-”
“Princesses Flora and Fauna Charming of the Moors,” Flora/Fauna said. “Welcome to the Apple Shores dorm-"
"Well, half of it anyways," muttered Vanelope.
"-and welcome to Princess Academy."
