Camille

Chapter 4

“The Princess Academy Board of Governors would like to say a few words before we begin.” Camille looked back down at her book, disappointed. She was hoping for something exciting and new. Cogsworth, the head of household staff back in Camille's kingdom, was on the board of governors. He had hinted that this year at Princess Academy would be different. Camille's discontent did not last long as she became instantly absorbed in her enchanting story about wizards, magic spells, and prophecies. Chip, Camille's dearest childhood friend, had gotten it for her. Well, Christopher had gotten it for her.

Every year when Chip came home from Prince Academy for the summer, he insisted on everyone calling him by his full name, Christopher. However, this year even Mrs. Potts (Chip’s mom), Camille’s mom, and Camille herself were subject to this request, even though they were the only people who ever got away with calling him Chip the previous year. Camille did her best. She and him had been best friends since birth, after all.

Suddenly, Camille’s school best friend Merryweather grabbed Camille's arm.

“Ouch! Merryweather, what’s wrong?” Camille whispered.

“Didn’t you hear what they said?” she answered. As Camille came out of her trance, she noticed that everyone was murmuring loudly. Even more loudly than when the teachers didn’t intervene when the newbies started cheering

“Wha-what? What happened?” Camille asked, confused.

“Oh Camille, you know you aren’t supposed to read during announcements!” said Merryweather. “My namesake Merryweather, the fairy, always said-”

“Get to the point,” Camille interrupted. “I know, I know, your namesake always said not to interrupt, so what did they say?” Merryweather gave Camille a pointed look, but started to talk.
