Lesson 3: The Americas

Chapter 2

  • The Clovis (Kaia-Vaha)

    • Archaeologists named them in 1933

    • Brought phoenixes with them from Egypt or India

    • Muggles and wizard-kind lived together

    • Present throughout the Americas

    • Died out during the Mass Cooling



  • The Olmec

    • First use of hierarchy 

    • Witches and Wizards made up the rulers and shamans

    • Muggle priests came next

    • Artisans, laborers, and farmers followed at the bottom

    • Rulers were believed to be reps of gods

    • Creators of Great Pyramid, archaeological site of La Venta, in Tabasco, Mexico

    • Also created giant stone heads



  • The Maya

    • Lived around the same time as the Olmec

    • Lived in Central America

    • The "Early" and "Middle" block of Mayan history are considered pre-classical (2000 BCE - 300 BCE)

    • Some of the first people to form village-orientated lifestyles

    • Used Jade and Obsidian
