- Typically have extended effects or effects that change during casting
- Example: the Patronus Charm
- Requires a constant flow of willpower or the spell ends
- Magical Exhaustion
- Every spell utilizes magical energy from you
- More you use your magic, the more worn out you get
- Your magic muscles have to work out to get stronger
- Overexertation can occur
- Worn down effects can lead you to feel nauseous, difficult to catch your breath, and feel tired.
- Extreme cases can lead to weakness and difficult to stand
- Magical exhaustion comes with the chance of accidental magic while you are recovering
