LESSON FOUR

Chapter 5

Lesson Four - Why We Care About A.M.E:

All magic in the universe comes from stars. In our solar system most of the magic comes from the sun. Astronomical bodies absorb magic from the stars. Moons and planets in our solar system that have absorbed magic also modify it. Example the full moon transforms werewolves into wolf form.

A.M.E Quotient - Astronomical Magical Effect Quotient.

It describes the amount of magical effect a non-light-producing astronomical body has on another planet or object. The A.M.E of things tells us the amount of magical and divinatory effect that will reach Earth. Generally objects closer to Earth have a higher A.M.E and planets in star systems far away have low affects we don't feel them on Earth.

A.M.E Quotient was first developed and proposed by Dr. Ayesha S. Mansour. Its original name was Astromeff Quotient. She was a Hufflepuff.

A.M.E Quotient Equation Variables

Distance from the Sun - how far the body in question is from the sun

Angular size - how big the astronomical object appears from Earth

Albedo - how much light and magic the astronomical object reflects from its surface relative to the amount of light that falls upon it. In most cases, optical albedo and magical albedo are similar but there are exceptions.

Phase - how much light of the objects is lit in the sky and not blocked from the Earth by another body

Interference - how the magic from one astronomical object interacts with the magic from other astronomical objects.

Divinatory Meanings

Mercury - sudden creative influence, problem solving, inspiration

Venus - feelings (particulary love)

Mars - danger, blood, battle

Jupiter - appearance of unstoppable forces

Saturn - empathy, perspective, slow thourghtful consideration

Uranus - importance of individual thoughts, change or transition

Neptune - heightened divinatory abilities, indicator of sacrifice, not petty but deep life altering sacrifice

Pluto - cycles, life cycles or repetition of the past
