After a while I came to a conclusion. I had to get to the base. I went through the cabinets of the kitchen of the house I was staying in and got food, supplies and clothes. Once I had a backpack full of stuff I walked out of the back door. 

I started walking, thoughts swirling in my mind. My parents death, the monsters, and finally my house. I willed myself to try not to cry, to stay positive. It's hard. I try to look around to find a car with keys in it, so I can get to the base.

I finally found a car, and tried the keys. It works! I put my backpack down on the passenger seat, buckled my seatbelt and drove away.

I drove for hours, and hours. I lived outside of the city, a neighborhood far from things. While I was driving I had to avoid many obstacles and almost came close to a Rhoamer. I had to swerve past wrecked houses, overturned trees, and smashed cars. My luck is out of this world, I thought to myself as I kept driving.

I was spacing out when I saw this girl. She looked injured and I felt bad for her, so I helped her in my car. I toss my backpack into the back. She had dirty black hair, many scars along her arms and face. I noticed her eyes were two different colors, blue and brown, I was intrigued. As soon as I dragged her onto the passenger seat she passed out cold, asleep. I wondered what she had gone through.
