Chapter 8
Potter woke up in an unfamiliar place. Where was he? Where were Teddy, Albus, and Lily?
He blinked and remembered. Hogwarts. Ravenclaw. Food...
James sat up and put on school clothes. His stomach longed for food. He rushed out of his empty dormroom (no one else was in it) and down to the Great Hall. He looked longingly at the table where the Griffindors sat, aching at the pain that he felt of betraying every family member of the Potters and Weasleys alike. He scanned his eyes over the Ravenclaw table and saw a solemn Melody eating scrambled eggs with cheese, toast, and salted porridge. He went and sat down by her. "Hey," he said. She looked up at him with her one of a kind eyes and smiled.
"How are your dormmates?" Melody asked him.
"I have none."
"Lucky. Mine are terrible. The only good one got punched in the face trying to defend me. I think I will just stay quiet." She said the last part in a small voice.
James frowned. "They're just a threat. Nothing more." A girl began to walk over from her spot at the other side of the table. James hoped it wasn't a girl desperate to be in the Potter family.
"Selena!" Melody gasped. The girl smiled. She had pretty black hair that curled perfectly, green eyes, and perfect skin except for the swollen lip. She could've been James' sister.
"I am sorry about Elisa," Selena said. Her speech was slightly slurred. "She's a jerk. She was supposed to go to a different school, but she threw a tantrum. I don't know how she had friends." She looked over at James as if she had only just noticed him. "She wants you to be her boyfriend. Kissy kissy bleh stuff." James scowled and blushed. Melody laughed.
Students began clearing out of the Great Hall. Melody, James, and Selena stood up together.
"Where are you two going?" Selena asked both of them. "Potions," they both said at the same time. Melody and James blushed, and it was Selena's turn to laugh through her swollen lip. "Let's hope the teacher is nice."
I hope so too, James thought.
