To Be A Real Girl

Chapter 7
After getting settled, Melody thrust off her clothes. She replaced then with a nightgown, softer than silk. Headfirst, she layer down in her bed, falling asleep in mere seconds.

Hours later, Melody woke up, but didn't move. It was the middle of the night. The light was turned on so bright it had woken her up. Melody thought about sitting up, but hesitated when the girls in her dorm started chatting.
"Elisa!" cried one girl. "You woke us up! None of us will get our beauty sleep." The way she said it made Melody shiver, as if they were casing some horrid spell on her.
"Well, little miss dragon will get hers." Pause. "If such a thing exists for her." Most of the girls started chuckling.
"Hey," one girl said, voice shaking. "Be nicer to her."
Melody heard one girl stand up. "What do you want to do about it, Selena?" Melody winced at the sound of flesh meeting fist.

She looked so small, so helpless against the larger girls around her. The head girl ushered them all to bed. "That's ten points away from Ravenclaw, if you ask me," she grumbled, then turned out the lights. She walked away.
"Great going, guys," Melody whispered before putting her head back on the pillow.
One girl chuckled. "Stupid dragon. We have no points. It's the first day. If you were a real girl, you would know. But you're a hybrid. And hybrids," she said, pausing. Melody could feel her breathing down her neck. "Don't. Know. Anything." She fluttered back to bed.
To be a real girl, Melody thought with a sense of longing. Oh, to be a real girl...
