27 Days Until Victory
Darcia sat down on the red velvet couch, still shocked over her reapings. Last night she tearfully hugged Mrs. Pillsbury and Claudia goodbye. She promised them she'll come home, but now Darcia is unconfident. There are twenty three other tributes in the arena each of them have their own unique skills. Darcia was sure she had unique skills of her own, she just didn't know what yet. And she didn't have much time to figure it out. But Arnold was much stronger than Darcia. He'll easily over power her if they were the final two. If Darcia wanted to win she knew she must start being brave and practice strengthening her best skills, and improve her worst skills.
The living room door opened with a woosh, and Arnold entered the room. He surely was one of the bigger and stronger tributes. It made Darcia wonder if she should talk to him or not. Well she's about to find out. Darcia stood up and walked over to Arnold.
"Hi, I'm Darcia." Darcia politely smiled and held her hand out waiting for Arnold to shake it.
"I know, but can you leave me alone please?" Arnold gruffed with a deep frown on his face. Arnold stood up and marched out of the living room cart.
Why was he so grumpy Darcia? That made Darcia think hard. Nonetheless, Darcia was born to be polite to people and she respected Arnold's decision.
"Alright. I'll guess I'll see you around." Darcia smiled slightly and turned back to see Naya, District Ten's escort, drinking a cup of green tea.
Naya was your basic escort. She was always joyful around everyone. Trying to find the good in every situation. Darcia respected her for that. This year was her last year as the escort for District Ten. And she wanted to make a great final impression on the district and the Capitol. Some say she's power hungry, Darcia says she's a woman driven to succeed.
"Hello Darcia! How are you feeling my dear?" Naya said with a sweet smile.
"I guess I'm doing good so far. Breakfast was really good." Darcia said with a slight smile on her face.
"Oh I bet it was!" Naya said with a laugh.
Darcia giggled softly and sat down at the table, just in time when Una stepped through the main train cart.
"Hello Darcia, I'm Una. I'll be your mentor." Una said roughly but kindly.
Darcia waved at Una. She always admired Darcia's victory, and because of that she admired Una.
"Where's your district partner, Darcia?"" Una asked, sitting down on the couch next to me. Darcia had no clue where Arnold had gone, all she knew was that he asked her to give him space. Darcia understood that, but she didn't understand why he had to act like that right now, when District Ten needed them most to return. She knew that Arnold would have a higher chance at winning over herself. His tall, muscular body over Darcia's slim, and short body proved that. Darcia however, wasn't gonna give up so easily. Darcia was ready to do whatever it took to keep herself alive. Even if that means she had to do the unimaginable, kill.
"I think he went to his room. He left the cart a few minutes before you arrived. He seemed like he wasn't in the mood to talk right now."
"Oh well, I don't blame him, he just reaped yesterday. Let's give him his space for the time being. While we wait, why don't you tell me about yourself, Darcia? It'll help me get to know you better during your time in the Capitol."
"I guess, well I'm good with daggers from a touchy experience. I also need to let you know I'm not nearly as strong as most of the other tributes."
"Don't doubt yourself, Darcia. I'm one hundred percent sure you have something you're good at." Una said with a soft smile.
Darcia opened her mouth to respond but the main doors opened for Arnold, who returned after having moments to himself.
"I'm sorry I acted that way, Darcia." Arnold apologized, sitting next to me and Una. I truly understood why Arnold acted that way, he was understandably going through a lot over the past 24 hours, and so was Darcia.
"I forgive you, Arnold." Darcia said with a slight smile on her face.
Darcia knew that she had to make amends with Arnold, especially if he was going to ally with her. Darcia looked out the window, the Capitol shining towers could be seen. Taking a sigh, she knew shit was about to get real.
