Diagon Alley?

Chapter 2

Hermione woke early the next day, she rubbed her eyes and looked at the clock, 7:03. She quickly flung her sheets to the side and got out of bed. Performing the same things as the night before, she got dressed into a pair of jeans and slipped a light blue t-shirt over her head. Walking to the bathroom she once again brushed her hair and her teeth. When she had finished she skipped into the Granger's kitchen, inside her mother was making some scrambled eggs. "Good morning mum!" Hermione skipped to the fridge, there she grabbed the milk out of it. She pulled a glass off the shelf and poured milk into it.   "Well aren't you in a good mood?" Her mother said, splitting the eggs into three plates. "Very," Hermione smiled, taking two of the plates into the dinning room. She placed one in front of her father who was pouring over a strange newspaper Professor McGonagall had left the Grangers. "Hermione, look at this, the pictures move!" Her father exclaimed, showing his daughter the paper. Hermione's eyes fixed on a large picture, there was a man with a very long, grey beard standing in front of the entrance to a large castle. "Interesting," she replied, walking back into the kitchen she grabbed the milk she had poured for herself and a nearby mug of tea her mother had poured. The puffy haired girl went back into the dining room giving her father the tea and sitting down to eat her breakfast. Her mother entered, sitting down at the small table with her own plate and mug of tea. They ate in silence, her father finally putting aside the newspaper to eat. When they had all finished Hermione cleared the table, she took the dishes into the kitchen and quickly washed and dried them. As she put away the last dish she overheard her parents mumbling back and forth. ".... Whoever this is has to be a complete loony.." She sighed and went back to her bedroom. She felt like this was her fault, even though it wasn't, she'd just closed the door when she heard a scratching on her window. The cat, er witch had returned! Hermione raced to the window, jerking it open. The cat crawled inside, "Professor McGonagall, your back!" She opened her bedroom door and walked out the cat trodding behind her.  "Mum! Dad!" Hermione called as she entered the dining room, her parents looked behind her in awe. She turned around to see the cat had transformed into Professor McGonagall. "Quit your staring, we better get going!" Being in less shock as last time Hermione realized that the witch had a thick Scottish accent. She turned to her parents, her father had risen from his chair and was putting on his shoes. Her mother was still staring at Professor McGonagall. "Come on mum," Hermione tapped her mother on the shoulder before getting her own shoes on. Her father threw a suit jacket over the button up shirt he was wear then coaxed his wife to put on her own shoes. Hermione reached for the door, "No, we won't be going that way." McGonagall said seeing her. The professor turned to Hermione's father, "Do you have a fireplace?" Her father nodded, pointing into the living room. "Then we shall go by floo powder." Hermione bit back the question of asking what floo powder is. The professor went into their living room, followed by Hermione. "Um, Professor? Does.. Does it hurt?" McGonagall reassured her it was painless. When Hermione's parents were in the living room the professor explained, "Now, Miss Granger, you'll go first. You will stand in the fireplace and very clearly say, 'Diagon Alley' as you drop this powder into the fireplace. Understand?" The professor pulled out a pouch with silvery-white powder in it. Shaking, Hermione stepped into the fireplace, she took a handful of the powder. She clearly said, "Diagon Alley!" As she dropped the powder she felt bright green flames rise around her. Clamping her eyes shut she resisted a scream. Hermione could feel her body getting sucked into the chimney, the air around her grew warmer then cold again. When she opened her eyes she was still standing in a fireplace, but a different fireplace. Slowly she stepped out, looking around she saw lots and lots of books. So many she could barely count them all. There was a light tap on her shoulder, she turned to look but there was no one there. She turned back and a boy with platinum blonde hair was in front of her. His hair was slicked back and his grey piercing eyes met hers. He extended his hand to Hermione, "My name's Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." She reached out to shake his hand but instead he took her hand and kissed it gently, giving her a bow. Hermione giggled, "I'm Hermione Granger." A tall wizard is a back robe came up behind Draco. The wizard took his walking stick and jabbed it into Draco's foot. "Draco!" The man yelled, he looked at Hermione. "Granger you say? That's not on the register of pureblood family's." Hermione trembled, she had absolutely no idea what any of this stuff was. "Just as I thought," the man looked at her with a scowl. "Draco, how dare you speak to this mudblood.. Beaver!" The man had paused slightly before calling her a beaver, as soon as the word had left his lips Hermione's hand shot to her mouth in attempt to cover her overgrown front teeth. The man swept his arm around Draco who was now scowling at Hermione as well, they walked off leaving Hermione to her thoughts. She knew she wasn't the most attractive girl but she didn't think she deserved to be called Beaver. Or mudblood, what does that even mean? Before long Professor McGonagall and her parents had appeared around her, "I just be going, here's a list of everything you'll need, you can find it all here in Diagon Ally." The professor handed Hermione a list then disappeared without a trace. Her parents looked around, as if to search for the witch but Hermione looked down at the list. She poked his father and began to read the list, "First year students require, three sets of plain black work robes, one plain black pointed hat, one pair of dragon hide protective gloves and one winter cloak, black with silver fastenings." She looked up to her father, "There's more, are you sure you can pay for all this? Honestly I don't really have to go." Her father chuckled, "Yes, Professor McGonagall told us where to get wizard money. You are going to this school." A/N: This is NOT a Dramione fan fiction.
