It's a Definite Kind of Love (A Blackinnon Fanfiction)
Ever since that one kiss, something had changed between them. They were more comfortable with each other. They cared for each other (mostly... sometimes... 70% of the time... 60%...) They actually tried hard for each other. This is the story of Sirius Black and Marlene McKinnon. WARNING: There are mentions of violence in this story. Remember That Invite To Doom? This Is That Doom
Chapter 18
A/n: ah yes. Drama. What every author longs for. I mean- they say they like it- they don't. No one likes drama. But still- BUCKLE UP!
Marlene bounded into the common room.
She spotted Sirius on the couch with his spindly legs tucked under him.
"Hi love," Marlene said casually, plopping down onto the couch next to him. "Did you write that letter yet?"
Sirius nodded blandly.
Marlene knew something was up, but didn't question it, not wanting to make his mood worse. She simply smiled warmly at him.
"Mar?" he asked suddenly, breaking the silence.
"Yeah?"
"Random question- why'd you take so long in the bathroom?"
Marlene laughed. "Funny story- when I was done laughing my buttocks off in the loo, that Ravenclaw boy- Danny Jackson stopped me from coming back." She laughed again. "He said that he wanted my help on the Transfiguration Homework. And in front of the bathroom! He even actually thought I knew how to do it."
Sirius let out fake laughter. "Really?"
Marlene squinched up her eyebrows. "What do you mean? You don't believe me?"
"Not really." Sirius unfurled his legs and stretched them out. "I saw you and Jackson on the map. You guys were in front of the tapestry on the 7th floor. The girl's bathroom is on the third floor."
Marlene raised her eyebrows. "You were checking the map for me?"
"I was worried why you didn't come back," lied Sirius.
"Ok..." said Marlene suspiciously. "But what's your point here?"
"My point is that you were-" Sirius hesitated slightly. "Doing something with Jackson."
Marlene's jaw dropped. "You actually thought-?"
"Yes," said Sirius swiftly. "I still don't believe you."
Marlene stood up abruptly. "You really think I was snogging Jackson- who I barely know- in the middle of an half-abandoned hallway?"
"It sounds silly when you put it like that, but-"
"It doesn't just sound silly-" retorted Marlene. "It is silly!"
Sirius stood up too, his face flushing red in anger. "Not very silly when you see your girlfriend with another boy!"
"He was asking for homework help!" yelped Marlene.
Some of the first years had noticed and had cleared out to give the angry couple some space.
"Oh yeah-" retorted Sirius. "The last time we did 'homework', James walked in on us and told me he wanted to throw up."
"You dimwit!" screeched Marlene. "Don't you trust me?"
Sirius paused at this comment.
Marlene ignored him. "We're at war, Sirius! You-know-who is on the move and he's killed millions of people so far! We have to trust that we won't betray our friends and family- that they won't betray us." Marlene breathed heavily. "And the fact that you think I've broken that trust- well- then I think you've broken that trust as well."
Without another word, Marlene stormed off into the girl's dormitories.
Sirius, flabbergasted at her speech, was still quite angry and stormed up to the boy's dorms in a rage.
Marlene flopped onto her pillow, Lily and Alice watching her curiously.
"We heard yelling," said Alice quietly. "Was it- you and Sirius?"
Marlene huffed into her pillow. "Sorry Al," she said quietly. "I wanna tell you- just not now. Don't feel like it."
"Ok, Mar," said Lily gently. "Let us know if you need anything at all."
I love them so much, thought Marlene. I was right with that whole trust thing. And he actually thought Danny and I was snogging. I can't believe it. Sirius is such a butt-hole, though! He's just as immature as he used to be.
And with these unsettling thoughts, Marlene soon fell into an uneasy sleep.
