DRESS CODE:
- Wearing sufficient clothing and closed-toe shoes is required upon taking this course, as spills and splashes may result in injury upon exposure of the skin.
- Loose-fitting items of clothing are not permitted, as material can become caught on instruments or contaminate brewing potions.
- Hair should be tied back while working with potions, along with the removal of any long-hanging jewellery.
- Dragonhide gloves and goggles are important regarding protection during practical work.
SAFETY:
- Simple medicinal potions are kept in the professors' potion cabinet, which can be used by students upon providing further information on an injury.
- Only a witch or wizard should ever apply or ingest a potion, despite the severity of the situation. The exposure of a Muggle regarding these magical mixtures often results in strange or deadly reactions.
- Muggles have become less accustomed to the exposure of magic over numerous generations, resulting in the inability to handle direct contact with potions.
- The International Statute of Secrecy was instituted in 1689 in an effort to effectively hide the existence of witches and wizards from the rest of the non-magical population.
TERMINOLOGY:
- A potion refers to a mixture holding magical properties that combines both magical and non-magical ingredients.
- These potions have the ability to achieve numerous different effects, depending on the unique combination of ingredients.
