History of Quidditch

The name "Quidditch" came from the location the first Quidditch game was recorded. Quidditch did not start with a Golden Snitch, it was actually a magical bird called a Golden Snidget. When the player caught the Snidget, the player would kill the bird. Hunting the bird was later banned by the Ministry of Magic. A man by the name of Bowman Wright later invented a replacement for the Golden Snidget called the Golden Snitch. Quidditch continued growing popularity over the years. Every year the Quidditch World Cup would take place. Whoever won the match would win the cup. Sometimes Quidditch matches would take months on end because the players couldn't find the snitch. The longest Quidditch match ever recorded was a staggering 2 months!
