A couple of days after Dudleys birthday the letters came. We were in the living room sitting down. I was reading a book, Harry was picking at his jumper and Dudley was watching TV and stuffing his face with chocolate.

I turn the page of the book and suddenly the letterbox clicks open and shut. Harry runs out to the hall and I follow him. He bends down to pick up the letters and gasps. "They're for us," he gasps and as I look I notice it's true, the letters are addressed to us!!! My one reads in starling green ink:  Ms. L Potter, Small Bedroom, Little Whinging, Surrey. I'm just about to open the fancy seal on it when Uncle Vernon barges in and grabs it off me. He takes Harrys too. "No, that's mine." I say. "No, it's not he retorts as he looks at them. "But they're addressed to me and Harry. Give them back!!" He looks at me with malice. "No a mistake. Noone would ever send a letter to you two," he says and walks off. He calls Aunt Petunia and tells Dudley to leave the room. Dudley protests but eventually leaves the room. Me and Harry press our ears against the door. We only catch brief snatches of conversation like "I thought we'd stamped it out of them," and "They're not going." We were leaning against the door listening when suddenly the door opened and Uncle Vernon came out. "Up to bed both of you, no supper tonight." When we don't leave  he roars at us."GO, NOW!!!" We run up the stairs and into the room. When we go in the door is locked behind us. I collapse on my bed and cry into my pillow until I fall asleep. When I wake my watch reads 5:30. Pots and pans are clanking downstairs. I glance across the room at Harry, he's lying on his bed staring at the ceiling. I get out of bed and prise open the loose floorboard under my bed and take out a packet of mint humbugs, a sketchbook and a pencilcase. I throw two mints to Harry, take two for myself and sit up in my bed and start drawing while sucking a mint.
