-----------------------------------
It was a bright sunny summer in our home garden when I met my first fairy. My mother grows lots of herbs and flowers in our greenhouse so it's natural for us to stumble upon one from time to time. We have a lemon tree in our back yard which produces a fair amount of lemons during its season from mid-winter to spring.
I remember walking through the greenhouse to go sit by the lemon tree to read when I noticed admired their reflection from the corner of my eyes. At first, I thought it was a lost butterfly, but upon inspection, I notice the tiny fairy grooming her wings and hair by the broken mirror shard my mum keeps for aesthetics. she says it's a protection ward, but I know she's only keeping it cause it fits with the clutter in the greenhouse.
The fairy didn't turn around when I got closer as she was busy, but it gave me enough time to pull out my sketchbook that I always keep with me to illustrate her beautiful wings and appearance.
She had shiny pastel pink hair and fair skin that glowed like it was the surface of planet venus. Her eyes were the same shade as her eyes and her wings were longer than I thought a fairy wing was going to be with a beautiful mix of green and pink. Her wings were pointy from one end and round from the bottom end. The pattern her wings had was hard to describe, but they resembled the aurora borealis a lot. She wore peony petals perfectly curated as her skirt and seemed like she was wearing the same flower leaves as her top. The leaves wrapped around her upper body in an intricate manner where I can't even being to think of the techniques she might have used to get it to look the way it did. It was like she had a fashion show to go to afterward. I Believed then that they could make great fashion designers if they weren't too occupied with their reflection most of the time.
I had no idea how she ended up in the greenhouse, but I was thankful since it gave me time to add fairies to my sketchbook collection. I wish I had colored charcoal to extenuate her colors, but I filled that in later from memory. I must have startled her then cause when she noticed me in the reflection she scattered backward. I let her know that I wasn't going to pluck her wings off or anything and showed her my sketch that she loved, but looked like she might have notes on.
It was truly a sight to see something so small and I'm glad she wasn't mean or anything. Vain, but quite lovely. She gave pointers on the dress I sketched the one I was wearing since it wasn't colored in, but she didn't object to it. I got her some lemon tree leaves that she seems to like the taste of then left me to my solidarity.
