Mooncalves witness - A magical Experience
Chapter 3
Author note: This is a recollection of a Night. It's important to note that the author is in their 2nd year and is not allowed out at night without a parent present, especially during the full moon.
-------------------------------------------------------
A girl hides behind a bush in the field waiting for the event to start. She takes out her notebook and prepares herself as she assesses the moon. The full moon is bright and clear in the sky, and the summer breeze is perfect for a nightly picnic.
Her mother sits next to her waiting for the shy creatures to emerge and dance under the graceful moonlight. She waits to harvest the mooncalves dung to use it for her garden.
"When do they come out, mum?" The girl asks in a whisper, "Soon enough my dear," her mother responds. Just then the pale grey-skinned creatures appeared into the field, Long necks wriggling and bulging blue eyes looking up into the bright moon in excitement. The girl watched curiously, fascinated by their odd and incredible features.
"Right then, that's my queue," her Mum got up quietly, heading towards their burrows to collect their dungs before the full moon peak period was over. She watched her mother, sneak away and looked back at the dancing creatures. She took out her charcoal and started to sketch them in her notes. She had learned about them a couple of lessons ago and thought it would be interesting to witness and add to her sketchbook of magical creatures.
The girl sketched their funny little four webbed hind legs and shaded the moon lights appearing on the ground around them as they formed funny shapes on the field ground, chuckling at their sounds when they danced, pattering about.
"Mission accomplished." Her mother came back with a sack of dung. The girl crinkles her nose at the smell, "fine aroma.." The girl joked and her mother nudged her, "Funny. Did you finish your sketch?"
"Yes." She nods. "It's the best I've done so far."
