Marlene and Padfoot had stayed for quite a long time outside until they fell asleep on the fluffy blanket. 
Marlene yawned and her eyes fluttered open. "BURPY WAKE UP I'M LATE FOR SCHO- Oh wait, I'm skiving off class today."

If Padfoot could roll his eyes, he would have. 

Marlene sighed. "Should we head back to the dorm or wait here until Lily and Alice have left?"

Padfoot gave his answer with his eyes. He jumped up and plopped right back onto the blanket.

Marlene nodded. "Agreed."

Back at the school, everyone was distraught and distracted. Ever since Lily and Alice had reported Marlene missing, the teachers were on the track for any suspicious activity. And ever since James, Remus, and Peter had reported Sirius missing... Everyone had heard and everyone was absolutely terrified. 
If two random students had just gone missing then what else could happen?

Of course, the rest of the Marauders knew that wherever Marlene was, Sirius was most likely with her. A girl with her dog. 

So James did something he didn't like doing. He talked civilly to Lily Evans.

"Oi Evans!" he shouted across the corridor. 

Lily whipped around annoyedly. "What is it, Potter?"

James speed-walked over to her. "It's about McKinnon and Sirius."

Lily folded her arms and gave James an 'I-will-be-listening-as-long-as-you-don't-be-stupid' look. "Go on."

"So Sirius and I were being kinda dumb once..."

Lily squinted. "Ok...?"

"And we had this assignment to read this book about Animagi..." continued James slowly.

Lily thought about this for a second. "Ok- wait- Potter- what did you do?"

James rubbed his neck. "We... became Animagi."

If Lily had been drinking water, it would have spewed out of her mouth like a volcanic explosion. On that note, she did choke on  her own saliva and end up spitting it out on James. "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!"

James smiled weakly. "Do you remember that time that McKinnon was in the library 2 days ago?"

Lily sighed and nodded.

"Sirius was trying to annoy her and finally resorted to being... a dog."

Lily's eyes widened. "Potter... where are you going with this?"

"His Animagus form is a dog. McKinnon asked me where Sirius was- she thought he was his dog. She didn't know. And I know that she's the kind of person that would help any helpless animal. If we find Sirius, we find McKinnon. So I say we work together. If you agree?" James ended his slightly inspiring speech with a gulp.

Lily stared at him. "I agree, but only if you're not stupid along the way-"

"Lily?" called out Alice. 

Lily whipped around. "Alice- I think we have some help on our mission."
