It's A Different Kind of Like (A Blackinnon Fanfiction)

Whoo! It's been a mouthful for the Marauders, navigating throughout their journey. They battle life, love, and just a little sprinkle of magic here and there. All credits go to JK Rowling except for my own characters. (Please keep in mind that I do not support her views on the LGBTQIA+ community- I'm part of that community myself!)

Make Way For Regulus

Chapter 18

Sirius and Marlene pulled away.

Marlene had never blushed so hard in her life.

Nor had Sirius.

"What, why, and how?" said a disgusted voice from behind them.

Marlene and Sirius jumped. It was a boy the same age as them, with oily and ruffled hair. And no, it was not Snivelly. It was Regulus Black.

"Reg?" said Sirius. "What are you doing here?"

"Nothing of your business," snarled Regulus. "But what were you doing here with that dumb blonde?"

Marlene's teeth grinded against each other. She hated being called a dumb blonde. She may have been a lunatic, but she was not a damsel in distress. Marlene would not have anyone fix her problems for her. So Marlene did the rational thing.

"I'm sorry?" asked Marlene, cupping her ears. "I didn't quite hear you."

Regulus glared at her. "I asked this idiot here what he was doing with a dumb blonde."

"Oh," said Marlene, acting surprised. "Dumb blonde, you say?"

"Mar," said Sirius quietly. "What are you-"

"Interesting," Marlene said loudly, to cover up Sirius' voice. "It may interest you to know that not all blondes are dumb. No, some are rather- what's the word- rebellious!"

Regulus squinted. "What are you even talking about?"

"Like me." Marlene ignored Regulus. "I am rebellious. My friends call me 'The Puncher' of our little friend group. And you know why? Because I feel like hitting you, right now, at this very time! This is getting exciting!" Marlene smiled and raised her wand. "Now explain what you're doing up right now."

Regulus whipped out his wand too, while Sirius was sitting on the ground, not knowing what to do. "What are YOU up to?"

Marlene smirked. "I'm assuming you were up to the same thing."

Regulus paused. "Maybe..."

"Who?"

"You don't need to know," scowled Regulus.

"Well," shrugged Marlene. "Just payback for calling me a dumb blonde. In case you haven't gotten it yet-" Marlene grinded her teeth. "I don't like it."

"Hmmph." Regulus smirked. "Rather fierce. Annoying. You have a horrible taste, brother."

"Oh, wooooowwwwww..." said Sirius, standing up now. "I'm considered your brother? I didn't know that!"

Regulus rolled his eyes. "I'll leave you idiots be." And he walked out of the Astronomy tower.

Marlene and Sirius glanced at each other and lowered their wands.

"Sirius- You never told me you had a brother..."

"We're not close," sighed Sirius, sounding like he didn't want to talk about it anymore.

Marlene heard this silent plea in his voice and didn't ask more of him. "It's getting kinda late now. Should we head back?"

"Yeah, I guess." Sirius' shoulder's slumped a little.

They walked in silence to the common room. When they entered the portrait hole, the two turned towards their own seperate dormitories.

"Wait-" said Marlene with a small smile. Then she went over and gave Sirius a hug. She whispered into his ear, "It's fine. One day, he'll understand that he's been a jerk to you."

And Siriua believed her. And he smiled too. "Thanks," he whispered back.

Neither of them mentioned the kiss. It was like a silent pact. Nothing official until we feel it's official.

And the two went up to their own dormitories.
