He looked down at his hand then back up at me “This has never happened before”
The fire started to snake all over his body and I started backing up. He looked to me with fear in his eyes “I don’t know if I can control it”
I grabbed my wand and pointed it at him, I waved it and he got drenched in water, putting out the flames. Another wave of my wand and he was dry.
I looked at his arms again, his eyes wide “Thank you” he nodded his head towards me.
“Uh, yeah, no problem” I replied, starting to stare off into space, my thoughts wandering
“Is something wrong?” He asked me
I shook my head, shaking my thoughts away and looked back up at him “No, I’m fine” I paused “I have to go do something” I turned away from him and apparated away, back to my room.
As I took a shower, I felt that feeling of the growing darkness come back. I tried to focus on it, I tried to find out where it was coming from but the more I tried, the more it slipped away and the more it hurt.
I tried to fall asleep but there were too many thoughts filling up my mind. And even if I did manage to fall asleep I feared I would fall into a nightmare. So I stayed awake. All night long.
I didn’t sleep the next night either. I couldn’t sleep when I was worried about Thomas and all the other people I knew. I hadn't seen Mattheo since that one night either and I was beginning to worry about him too.
Somehow I wasn’t tired even after two nights of not sleeping. If anything I was wide awake, more awake then I was usually.
Late Tuesday evening I was in the library grabbing some books and catching up on some readings for class when I ran into Liam. “Y/n?” His voice came from behind me
I turned to face him “Liam” I nodded my head “yes, do you need something?”
“No, I was just looking around and saw you. Thought I would say hi” He turned to leave but I stopped him.
“Wait” I called out
He turned slightly and gazed at me “Yes?”
“Have you seen Mattheo? I haven’t seen him in a couple days”
He shook his head “I haven’t seen him either, sorry” He left me alone. I checked out the books and apparated to my room.
When I got to my room Mattheo was sitting on my bed. It looked like he had been crying and he was breathing heavily, running his fingers through his hair. “Mattheo?” I asked putting my stuff down and go over to him. “What’s wrong?”
“M- Ma- Malachi” He started, still sounding out of breath. A tear rolled down his cheek and his mouth formed a straight line. “He-” Mattheo looked down
I put my hand on his shoulder “It’s ok” I comforted him “You don’t need to say anything” I paused “I’m here for you, whenever you need it” I smiled slightly. He looked into my eyes and hugged me, taking me by surprise. I hugged him back.
He pulled back, tears falling down his face “Thank you, for always being here for me” He looked down “even if I don’t deserve it”
“Mattheo” He looked up at me as I said his name “what makes you think you don’t deserve this? You deserve this as much as anyone else”
Mattheo left and I got ready for bed. I was going to try to get some sleep. Apparently I was more tired than I thought for the second my head hit the pillow, I was asleep.
I suddenly saw Thomas. He was in a dark room, leaned against the wall. He looked different though. His eyes were darker than I had ever seen them, they were almost black. His hair was messier than its usual neatness. He looked directly at me “You shouldn’t be here Y/n, you remember what I said when I left” his voice was cold
“What happened to you, and where is here? I don't even know how I got here” I raised my voice. He grabbed me and pushed me against the wall, putting his hand over my mouth.
“Be any louder, I dare you. If they find you here your going to be in big trouble”
“Where even is here?” I whisper shouted
“That’s not important, what’s important is that you leave here, as soon as possible” He glanced over his shoulder making sure no one was listening to them “Whatever you do don’t tell Mattheo, and don’t you dare try to come and find me, you’ll end up dead”
“I can’t live without you” I frowned. “You took all the heat and light with you when you left, you took everything that's good with you. Stuff is happening with Mattheo and I haven’t seen Theodore and Enzo in a while. There's nothing left anymore”
“What’s happening with Mattheo?”
“His powers are becoming stronger, the other day he started on fire and he’s emotionally a mess”
His lips formed a line and he looked away for a second “I’ll see what I can find or do. And don’t worry, you’ll see Thomas and Enzo soon enough”
“How will you tell me what you find? I might not be able to do this again”
“You’ll see” He looked behind him again and I heard a noise coming closer “You have to go now, sorry”
“No, Thomas, I don’t want to leave you”
“You have to” He started to walk away “I’ll see you soon Y/n”
I tried to go after him but it felt like hands were pulling me back, stopping me from going anywhere.
I woke up in my bed, sweating. Was any of that real or just something my mind made up? And if that was real, how was I able to do that, I had a million questions, none of which could be answered.
