TW: Mentions of death

In the silence, the world seemed to have stopped. The air stood still as if holding its breath and all the night animals had gone quiet. 

“Y/n” Mattheo looked at me “I will not let him harm you in any way” 

“You can’t guarantee that” I could feel more tears coming and I tried to hold them back “He is stronger than you, he could kill you” 

I could do a lot worse than kill him. Malachi’s voice rang in my head. I looked around but I couldn’t see him anywhere. I could kill everyone you know, I could make them all turn against you, I could make you kill them. I put my hands to my head, how was he doing this?, was he doing this?, or was I just thinking it myself?

“Y/n?” Mattheo looked concerned 

“No no no no” I repeated over and over 

“Y/n?” He shouted more urgently 

(Mattheo’s pov) 

She was shaking her head, her eyes filled with terror. I called for Thomas and he appeared a second later with Miles. He saw Y/n and went to her. He grabbed her as her eyes turned black, a second later her eyes closed and her body went limp in his arms. He picked her up and carried her to her bed. 

“What was that?” I asked, turning to Thomas and Miles for answers. 

“Malachi got into her mind” Miles answered 

“Do you know what he told her?” 

“I don’t, but I assume it was something about people dying”

“How did he even get into her mind? She’s usually able to keep people out” 

“She is weaker. She hasn’t been really using her magic lately and he mind was all over the place”

(Thomas’s pov) 

It was now 1 in the morning. Mattheo had gone out to the balcony while Miles and I were talking inside. 

Y/n suddenly sat up with tears in her eyes “Where are Theodore and Enzo?” She asked quietly

“I don’t know, why?” 

Miles sighed and frowned from beside me “Malachi has them” He answered looking towards Y/n and she nodded slightly.

“What does he want with them?” I asked 

“He doesn’t really want anything with them, just to kill Y/n” He paused “Which would force her to hurt them if she wants to live, and I think we know that Y/n would rather die than kill them” 

“We can’t let that happen” Mattheo chimed in from the balcony doorway “Especially to Theodore” 

“What’s so special about him?” Miles asked 

“Long story short, he killed his best friend and has never forgiven himself, he changed, I’m not sure he would live through it again” He explained “And we need to find Y/n before she does anything bad” 

I looked back to the bed and she was gone. I tried to find her thoughts but I came up blank. “Mattheo check the castle, Miles you can take the forest and I will see if she's back at the house” They nodded and we all disappeared. 

(Y/n’s pov) 

I didn’t know what happened. One second I was in my room and the next I was in the forest. I looked down and saw my hands had blood on them and my dagger was missing. I got up when I heard footsteps coming closer. “Y/n?” a voice called out “It’s Miles” 

I stepped out from behind the tree to see Miles coming towards me. “Y/n, we have been looking for an hour, where did you go?” 

“I don’t know, I just woke up here a couple minutes ago” 

“Well we need to go” 

“You're not going anywhere” a voice came from behind me. I turned to see Malachi with Theodore and Enzo next to him. Thomas and Mattheo appeared in front of me. I stepped to the side just in time to see Malachi mutter something under his breath, it took me a second to realize what he was doing and Thomas caught on shortly after. I took a couple steps back until Miles was in front of me. Malachi glared at me and then his lips formed a smirk as he nodded his head. Theodore and Enzo disappeared from beside him and a second later I felt a hand over my mouth as I got pulled back and pushed against a tree.
