Chapter 3

When my parents told me about my other life, my life apart from my Muggle friends, I was surprised and happy. But my joyful mood deflated once I was told other news.

"Darling, you will be getting an acceptance letter from Hogwarts soon. And once you are enrolled, we will allow you to take only a few classes each year." Dad began.

"Yes, since we live in the Muggleworld, you won't be needing to know much about saving yourself from evil forces. And you must never use what you have learned anywhere near them. Is that understood?" Mum added.

I nodded, not knowing what else to do. As soon as I could, I left my house to meet my friends at the bus stop for school.

"I bet we'll be together again next year for school!" Ava gushed as we worked on our science project.

It was only a week till summer vacation.

"Um, yeah, about that...I probably won't be coming back next year." I mumbled.

"What do you mean, Ceely?" Maddelyn asked, using my nickname.

"I mean I'll be going to a different school starting next year. A private boarding school in London."

Well, that's not a complete lie. Hogwarts is a boarding school and it's not far from London.

"If that's the case, let's enjoy our time together by going to Chessington." Ava said.

If you don't know, Chessington World of Adventures is one big amusement park Muggles enjoy going to. And me, I suppose.

Because my parents never allowed me to even touch a broomstick, other than to actually sweep the floor, the closest I've ever been to flying is the Monkey Swinger ride. It's a contraption that allows passengers to fly while being securely strapped down in a seat. It's loads of fun, and one thing I miss from the Muggleworld.

When the summer ended, my friends asked to see me off on the train to my new school. Knowing that Hogwarts has its own special train, I wondered if it were even possible for my friends to see me off.

"Mum, is it allowed for me to tell Ava and Maddelyn where I'm going for school this year? They've asked to see me off, but knowing that they're Muggles...." I trailed off.

"Well, I don't know, sweetie. Who's to say that they won't go telling others that we are magical?" Mum replied.

"Then how can I pretend to take the Muggle train, then take the Hogwarts Express without them knowing? Besides, aren't some Muggles accepted into Hogwarts?" I asked.

"Yes, that's true, but you know your friends. They will tell every Muggle soul they can about us being magical." Dad said.

"We'll just have to find another way for you to get there. I'll send an owl to Dumbledore, perhaps to ask for a private escourt." Mum sighed.

I had retreated to my room for the night after that. I really didn't want to have a private escourt; only rich stuck up, snobby kids get that kind of treatment. My family isn't particulary rich, but we're not poor either. Besides, what would other kids think if they saw me getting special treatment?

But I had no choice in the matter. Mum owled Dumbledore, and I suppose he agreed to me having a private escourt.

I cannot even begin to tell you how that trip went.
