Chapter 2
Having Muggle friends meant I could not do any magic at all in front of them. Which to me was no problem. My parents refused to let me learn anything until I was accepted into this school I had never heard of. But now having spent a few weeks here at Hogwarts, I wish my father had never wanted to experiment living with the Muggles.
For one, education is completely different. The students don't learn spells or go to Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Each year is based off your academic acheivements. The grade I'll mention is a year and age prior to being accepted into Hogwarts. It's called fourth grade and students are usually ages 9-10. I can give you an insight to what a typical day at a Muggle school was like for me.
"Hey Celeste! Looks like we're in the same class again!" Maddelyn grinned.
"Yup, me too!" Ava smiled. I grinned back. Fourth grade with Mrs. Anderson.
We walked into our classroom and found an empty table to sit around. Too soon the teacher walked in.
"Hello children! I'm Mrs. Anderson, and I'm excited to be your teacher this year."
The day started out with English, my favorite Muggle class. We were taught the rules of the Muggle English langauge. Here's a funny rule the langauge usually doesn't follow. 'I' before 'E' except after 'C'. As in piece but not receive.
We then had math, a subject I don't remember studying here at Hogwarts. We were taught how a bank works, and the money going in and out. We were taught how to add and subtract, multiply and divide. All skills all magical folk must know well, I's assume.
Our next subject was history, but not of magic. This history class taught on the history of Muggles, but I have to say, the continent of America has had many wars between different Muggle nations, including two World wars!
I suppose Alchmey starting in Second year is a lot like Muggle science, only that the Muggles don't experiment with magic or anything of the sort. I was taught how to make a volcano out of baking soda, vinegar, soap and water.
Our next subject is a combined force. Handwriting and Reading. Fancy cursive writing about the chapter we read of the book Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Then our day is done. I, of course left out lunch and breaks, but all schools alike have that worked into their schedules.
