Chapter 10
Just I thought, the five weeks before Christmas break were extremely busy. Here's a sample of the JV team schedule:
Monday: 4:00-5:00pm Room 100
Tuesday: 4:00-5:00pm Room 100
Wednesday: 4:00-5:00pm Room 100
Thursday: 4:00-5:00pm Room 100
Friday: 4:00-5:00pm Room 100
I found a ballroom that was big enough for all of us to dance in. It was the perfect place since no one used that ballroom anymore.
Everyone was very cooperative with me, which made my job easier. It's kind of hard being an eleven year old and leading two dance teams.
All too soon it was the day before our first dance competition. I had worked with Professor McGonagall to get permission slips and transportation set up. Two months of work had truly flown by.
"Alright everyone! Please make sure you are packed up and ready to leave after breakfast. Any work you need to pick up, do so today. Most importantly, get a good night's rest!" I announced during both teams.
We all gathered in the courtyard and boarded our flying carriages. Two carriages pulled by flying horses, it was a real treat. In no time at all we arrived at our venue. The carriages had transformed to be cars, to better fit in. Our first competition was against Muggle teams.
We all walked to the hotel that was next to the venue, checked in and settled in our rooms. I unfortunately had a room with one of the Slytherin boys, as he was the only one left without a room partner, and there were only two beds per room.
Once we settled into our rooms, we readied ourselves to head over to the competition stage.
"Celeste, might you tell us how we will compete? You seem to know what you're doing." Oona, one of my varsity dancers, asked.
"Of course! Once we go inside, we'll have a dressing room to ourselves, so we can finish getting ready. The judges will call all dancers to the backstage area when they are ready to begin. We are numbers 100 and 120. Once we go on, we dance, then leave to prepare ourselves for our next number. But JV dancer, you may jion the auidence once your dance is finished. After all the dances have performed, the judged will call us back to stage, where we'll wait for awards." I explained.
"Sounds fun! It's a shame those of us in varsity might only have this year to participate in this." Adelaide, another varsity dancer, sighed.
I nodded in agreement and soon enough, we were waiting for our turn to dance.
"Guys, I'm going to step out for a second, to find a water fountain, in the case we need to refill our bottles." I announced.
Everyone hummed in response and I left. It wasn't hard to find it. But what I saw next surprized me.
"Celeste, is that you?" A familiar voice called out.
"Hi, Maddelyn. How are you?" I weakly greeted.
"I'm fine, what about you? I haven't heard from you since your first day at that school. What happened?"
"My phone was confisicated, and we're not allowed to know the address for the school." I sighed.
"Well, I assume you're here with a new dance studio?" She glared.
"Yeah, and I'm dance captain." I grinned slightly.
"Well, those of us at Dance Physique will miss you. Good luck." Maddelyn frowned before leaving.
I returned to my dressing room saddened, but determined to win.
