I tried hard not to think about Bethany, and it worked, kind of.

Charms was actually interesting probably because we actually learned a spell. Wingardium Leviosa, or the levitation charm. We tried to make feathers levitate. I actually got it it and that was pretty exciting. "Nice job Miss Rye! 10 points to Gryffindor." Professor Flitwick said after I made my feather levitate. Jo looked mad, and she tried harder than ever to get praise from Professor Flitwick but instead she blew up her feather. I smiled, today might be a good day after all.

I never realized how much I loved Astronomy. It was the greatest! We learned about Mercury and as homework all we had to do was a quiz and an essay! In charms we had just a quiz, but I finished my essay in class for both Astronomy and Charms.

My third class was by far the most exciting though. We learned about two spells and as homework we had to write an informative piece. That wasn't great, but what was up next was something horrible. "Ok, so we will be getting into groups for our group project throughout the entire year. You and your partner will have to work on an 3,000 word essay explaining all the spells we learned this year. It is due at the end of the year, and once you turn in your essay you and your partner must demonstrate all the spells for me." Everyone groaned.

"I will read off the partners. Since Ravenclaw's and Gryffindor's have this class together, you  will be paired with someone of the opposite house." Professor Fargo began to read off the names, but I didn't listen until I heard my name.

"Zia Rye and Annoriel Woods"

I had no idea who that was but I went to sit by her anyway.

"Ok, introduce yourself to your partner. Today for the rest of the time you will get to know your partner" Professor Fargo said. "You may begin"

"Hi. I'm Zia" I said dully.  My partner was a bit more enthusiastic. 

"Hi! My name is Annoriel Woods, but you can call me Ann, all my friends do"

At that moment I knew we were friends.

"So Ann, do you like Defense Against the dark arts?" I asked.

"Yes very much! It is my favorite class" She replied.

Just then the bell rang, and Ann picked up her stuff and left. I did the same.
