(Y/n’s pov) 

I felt a hand nudge me awake. I blinked a couple of times and looked up into Matteo's dark hazel eyes. “Merry Christmas” He greeted, smiling 

I yawned then wrapped my arms around him in a hug “Merry Christmas Mattheo” 

I pulled away and he had a look on his face “You want to go wake Thomas up?” He asked 

“Sure,” I replied. We went up the stairs then quietly opened the door. Thomas was still asleep. 

“Thomas, time to get up and get your butt out of bed” Mattheo called 

Thomas’s eyes opened “It’s Christmas, and you know what that means…” 

“It means presents” Mattheo finished my sentence and we both smiled at each other 

“Andddd you guys are back to acting like children” He went to the bathroom then came out a few minutes later. I told them I was going to get the gifts in my dorm and that I would be back in a second then I left. I grabbed the gifts then went back to the common room, everyone was there. Mattheo, Thomas, Theodore, and Enzo. We did the same thing we did last year, we opened gifts from other friends and family first then we were going to open the gifts we got for each other last.

Indu got me another book, she left a note on it that said she had been reading it and she loved it. She also made me an ankle bracelet that was braided and had beads on it. From Olivia I got a black choker necklace and a couple bookmarks. I got some candy from Evelyn and Harper and the last gift was from Cora. I was surprised she got me a gift. I opened it and it was makeup. I don’t know whether it was supposed to be an insult or she just didn't know what to get me. I waited for the boys to be done. 

First we opened Enzo’s gifts. He got me a golden necklace with a sideways rose on it. He said that the rose symbolizes me, I was pretty but I was just like a rose, I had thorns, just like a rose I looked like any normal 12 year old girl but I was dangerous, I was a Riddle. 

Theodore was next. He got me another bottle of firewhisky, a book, and a letter, a long letter I was going to read later. He explained that he read the book at the beginning of the year and he thought I would like it. 

Thomas went and gave me a silver bracelet with a sapphire eagle and emerald snake charm, two matching rings for each animal, and lastly he got me a green and black velvet clutch purse with a silver chain. 

Mattheo got me a black leather jacket, a black leather braided cuff bracelet, and one of the drawings I had commented that I had liked this morning. 

I gave my gifts out and watched as they all opened them. Everyone got a card. Enzo got a book on plants and animals that I knew he hadn’t read before then I also gave him bookmarks with plants and animals on them. It was simple but I didn’t really know what else to get him. Theodore got a book that I thought he would like, then I also got him a black leather journal with his name on the lower corner of the cover in silver. He looked over at me “Did you know I’m running out of pages in my journal, and you just happen to get me one” He raised his eyebrows 

“What can I say, I know things” I really didn’t know that he was almost done with his journal. I knew he wrote and drew a bit but I didn’t know he had one, let alone was almost done with it. I got Mattheo another sketchbook because I knew he was running out of pages. I also got him some more drawing supplies then I got him a simple black band ring with a crimson pattern engraved into it. Lastly I got Thomas a ring that looked similar to Mattheos only it was a different pattern and it was green instead of crimson. The last gift for him was from me and Mattheo. We got him a dagger, it was time he got one even if he didn’t use it. The dagger was like ours. His was silver with dark green accents and the handle was all black leather. 

We all said our thanks to each other then went to breakfast. At Breakfast some of the other Slytherins informed us that there was going to be a party in the common room on New Year’s but all houses we invited. The rest of the day went by slowly and then we had the Christmas feast at dinner time. After the feast I went up to my dorm and went to bed, I was sorta tired. 

I suddenly was in the forbidden forest. I was running away from something that was following me, it was fast and I could hear it catching up to me. It jumped on me and pushed me into a tree. Vines came and wrapped around my arms and legs, I couldn't move. There was a werewolf in front of me. It scratched my stomach and it hurt so so so badly, I could see blood then black fog came from everywhere and it suddenly was black. I sat up in my bed, breathing heavily. It was dark but my eyes quickly adjusted and my breathing slowed down. I saw Mattheo standing by the window, looking outside. He turned to face me, I could feel a tear on my cheek. I looked down and Mattheo came over and sat next to me. “Are you ok?” 

“Why do nightmares feel so real?” I asked

“I don’t know, your asking the wrong person” 

(Mattheo’s pov) 

I pulled her into a hug “Everything is going to be fine, I’m here”

“When do you ever sleep?” She asked and I chuckled

“I sleep when I can” 

“Well I am going to try to get some sleep so you should too” 

“I want to make sure you're ok” I didn’t want her falling apart or feeling like I wasn't there for her. 

“I will be fine but you always can sleep with me if you want, it’s a queen bed after all” 

“Wouldn’t that feel awkward for you?” I asked 

“Not unless you make it awkward, come on, either go back to your dorm or sleep here, you can sleep on the floor but I don’t think that's as comfortable” 

I thought about it for a second then took off my shoes and told her to scotch over and she did, I got under the sheets and they were cozer and softer than mine. She fell back asleep fast and I fell asleep shortly after. 

A couple hours later I was awoken by Y/n. She was breathing fast and mumbling, she woke up and turned to see me “It’s ok, I’m here, it was just a nightmare, you're safe” I comforted her and she gave me a hug. She turned to look at the clock that displayed the time as 6:29 in the morning. She got out of bed and went to the bathroom and changed then went and sat out on her balcony. I got out of bed and used the bathroom then went out to join Y/n. She was hugging her knees and silently crying. She looked up at me.

“I want to be alone” She told me so I left and went to my dorm. I entered and Thomas was already up. 

“Where have you been?” He asked

“I was with Y/n, she was having nightmares and I didn’t want to leave her” I explained 

He nodded, then his mouth formed a straight line “Is she ok now?” 

“She wanted to be alone, but she was crying so I don’t think so” 

“Then why did you leave her?”

“She wanted to be alone, if she says she wants to be alone then I will give her space” He eyed me then went into the bathroom and took a shower. I headed to the astronomy tower and found Theodore leaning against the wall, smoking. He glanced over at me and exhaled smoke into the air above him “What brings you here?” He asked with a slight smile then put the cigarette back in between his lips. 

“Oh you know” I walked past him and towards the edge of the tower then lit a cigarette, put it in between my lips and turned back to face Thomas. I rested one hand behind me on the railing, I took the cigarette out and exhaled smoke. “life” I shrugged and shook my head looking down. 

He pushed off the wall and came over to me “I know all too well, what’s going on? May I ask?”

I opened my mouth but then closed it and thought for a second “It’s not for me to tell” 

He nodded “I understand” 

Y/n suddenly appeared a little ways away. She looked at me and Theodore “Have you seen Thomas?” She asked 

“Last I saw him he was in our dorm, he was taking a shower, why?” I replied 

“I think she is coming back, I can feel it”

“Her, who-” Then I realized, her other self.
