Chapter 2
~ Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: Year 1 ~
~ A neighborhood appears with a street sign called Privet Drive. An owl, sitting on the street sign, flies off to reveal a mysterious man that appears and walks through a forest near the street. He stops at the start of the street and takes out a mechanical device, and zaps all the lights out of the lamp posts. He puts away the device, and a cat meows. The man, known as Albus Dumbledore, looks down at the cat, which is a tabby and is sitting on a brick ledge. ~
Dumbledore: I should have known that you would be here-- Professor McGonagall.
~ The tabby cat meows and the cat’s shadow is seen transforming into a human. At the sound of footsteps, a person appears, revealing it to be Minerva McGonagall. ~
McGonagall: Good evening, Professor Dumbledore. *worried* Are the rumors true, Albus?
Dumbledore: *calmly* I’m afraid so, Professor. The good and the bad.
McGonagall: *concern* And the boy and girl?
Dumbledore: Hagrid is bringing them.
McGonagall: *concern* Do you think it wise to trust Hagrid with something as important as this?
Dumbledore: *smiles* Ah, Professor, I would trust Hagrid with my life.
~ There is a motor sound, and the two professors look up to see a flying motorcycle coming down from the air. It skids on the street and halts. A large man named Rebus Hagrid takes off his goggles. ~
Hagrid: *nods* Professor Dumbledore, Sir. Professor McGonagall.
Dumbledore: No problems, I trust, Hagrid?
Hagrid: No, sir. Little tykes fell asleep just as we were flying over Bristol. Heh. *picks them up* Try not to wake them. *hands one to Dumbledore* There you go.
~ Hagrid hands the baby boy, in a blanket, over to Dumbledore. He cradles the baby girl, also, in a blanket in his arms as he smiles down at her. ~
McGonagall: *nervous* Albus, do you really think it's safe, leaving him with these people? I’ve been watching them all day. They’re the worst sort of Muggles imaginable. They really are. *looks at the same girl in Hagrid’s arms* And what of the girl? She has no family. Where will she go?
Dumbledore: *reluctant* The only family he has. *soft smile* As for the girl, she will stay with Hagrid.
Hagrid: *grins* I will be honored, Professor Dumbledore.
~ Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Hagrid stop outside the muggle house. ~
McGonagall: The two will be famous. There won’t be a child in our world who doesn’t know their names.
Dumbledore: Exactly. He’s better off growing up away from all that until he is ready. As for her, we will be able to protect her from it all until she is ready.
~ Hagrid coughs and sniffles as he cries. He clears his throat. The baby girl coos and whines softly as if she knew what was happening. Hagrid rocks her back to a peaceful sleep. ~
Dumbledore: *softly smiles* There, there, Hagrid. It’s not really goodbye, after all. *looks at the baby girl* As for you, my dear sweet child, you will see your friend again.
~ Hagrid nods his head as the baby girl coos again. Dumbledore takes a letter and places it on the baby boy, who is now at the foot of the door. The baby boy has a visible lightning-bolt-shaped scar on his forehead, while the baby girl has a visible wolf paw print-shaped scar over her heart. ~
Dumbledore: *sincere* Good luck-- Harry Potter and Rachel Black.
~ The camera pans into their scars, and the opening title shows. ~
