Chapter 6, The Meeting Before the Vision.
Chapter 6
Two days had passed since then and Cat decided to take a walk, leaving Kade to do whatever he wanted to, even though he was going to do whatever either way. On her walk she spotted the Forbidden Forest and thought it would be nice to walk through for a bit, so she went to the edge of the forest to take a peek before actually walking into it. It was dark and kinda spooky, but Cat didn’t mind since she liked dark places and everything was really pretty except for the scary things that made her flinch once or twice. Deciding that it was the perfect place to take a walk in, she stepped inside. After a bit of walking, she heard something move in the bushes, so she went to investigate what was making the bushes shake so much and before she got to the bush shaking the most, a young leopard pounced on her, or at least, attempted to pounce on her. Cat was suddenly on all fours, closer to the ground than she normally like to be, a few inches away from the young leopard, about to decide whether she should attack it or not, when it transformed into a girl she knew.
“Fern?!” Cat said, trying to stand up, only to fall back down again. “Woah, is that you Cat?! You’re so cute!” Fern squealed. “Cute?
“What do you mean—” Cat stopped talking when she realized she had turned her arms and legs into lion legs. “I mean,” Fern started, “your lioness form is so much better than my leopard form. You’re so pretty, and small!” The girl squealed again as Cat started breathing in quick breathes. “Wait, you’re telling me I’ve turned into a lioness?!” Cat said, feeling both stressed and excited.
“That’s not all, that mark on your chest means you can become more than just a lion and a human! You’re so lucky!” Fern said excitedly as she pointed at the black cat paw mark on Cat’s furry chest. “Ok this is exciting and all but how do I turn back? I need to go back to school to study.” Cat said, starting to stress out even more.
“Oh that’s easy, just think of yourself as a human and you should turn back.” Fern said in a bored way. Cat thought as hard as she could about becoming a human again until she heard a small pop. Once she was back on two feet she asked Fern why she was there. After her friend explained that she was there to help and protect Cat, they talked a bit more before she finally decided to head back to the castle. At the edge of the forest she turned around to say goodbye to Fern, only to find that she was already gone.
Knowing that she was there to protect her, she walked back up to the castle and into the common room where she and Kade studied until their eyes were too heavy to stay open and they had to go to bed. That night, she dreamt that Harry was in a weird underground place with Ron and a bushy haired girl, but she couldn’t hear anything the whole time. They had gone past a huge three headed dog, sank through a devil’s snare, found the right flying key for a door that led into another room with huge chess pieces in it, lost Ron as Harry and the girl went to the next room. The girl gave Harry a potion, then he went through a firewall and into a room with a mirror in it and a man that looked like Professor Quirrell. Harry talked to the man and then… she woke up before anything else happened. That morning Kade had looked just as tired as she was.
“Did you have a weird dream about Harry too?” Cat had asked quietly. “How’d you know?!” Kade said with a look of shock. “It’s easy for me to tell when something that happened to me also happened to you.” she said before yawning.
A week had passed and they continued to have the same dream but each time they had it, the more the twins could hear what was going on around the people, but not what anyone was saying. From what she could tell, there was a secret basement underneath Hogwarts that Harry, Ron, and the girl she was going to find to stop someone that looked like Proffered Quirrell from stealing something. “This stinks.” Cat and Kade said out loud in unison during breakfast on a cold rainy Tuesday. “What stinks?” Malfoy said as he sat down across from Cat, Crabbe and Goyle sitting on either side of him.
“We weren’t supposed to say that out loud.” Cat said, covering her and Kade’s mouths, blushing slightly. “Well since you did,” Malfoy began, “could you tell us what’s been bothering you two so much this past week?” Cat sighed, “We’ll tell you, IF you promise not to tell anyone else.” Kade tried to take his sister’s hand off his mouth to protest but failed.
“You know you guys can trust me with anything right?” Malfoy said as he scooped up some eggs and put them on his plate.
“If you want to know, meet us near the greenhouse during break. If we see that anyone has followed you, we won’t tell you anything.” Cat said, staring directly into Malfoys cold, grey eyes. “Fine. I won’t take anyone, not even Crabbe or Goyle.” Malfoy said as he stabbed his eggs with his fork.
During break Malfoy had met Cat and Kade where she said they would. She checked around them to make sure no one had followed either of them, except Fern of course. When she was sure he came alone, she told him about her and Kade’s shared dream’s and how it became easier to hear everything around the people but not what everyone was saying. She never told him who the people in her and Kade’s dreams were since they’d known for a while that Harry and Draco weren’t very fond of each other. When she finished, she looked at Malfoy, who looked like it was something that happened all the time.
“So you two’ve just been having the same exact dream over and over again?” Malfoy said after thinking it through a few times.
“Nothing wrong with a reoccurring dream, or a shared reoccurring dream at that.”
“We know that but we feel like our dreams are trying to tell us something, we just haven’t been able to figure out what it is.” Cat said, feeling a bit frustrated as Kade grumbled something under his breath. “See Cat?! I told you he wouldn’t understand. We’re better off figuring this out —” her brother had started to say, but Malfoy interrupted him saying, “Maybe it’s trying to show you what’s gonna happen if you don’t help them?”
“That’s it! They’re not dreams at all! They’ve been visions this whole time!” Cat said as she hugged Malfoy.
Kade scoffed and mumbled, “Could’ve figured that out ourselves.” She ignored her brother, even when he gagged after seeing her hugging Draco. “It all makes sense now! We need to help them on their journey to stop whatever bad thing is going to happen,” she said when she let go of Malfoy. Draco was so surprised by her hug that when he realized she hugged him he turned his head so she couldn’t see him blushing. “We also have something else to tell you,” Cat said, now completely sure she could trust him, Kade began tugging on her sleeve in protest.
