never compare yourself to other artists! instead, compare yourself to yourself. See ways you can improve from your past projects or sketches! 

Find an art style or method you like! If you feel comfortable using a certain medium, learn using that medium. For me, that was using graphite until i got used to the shapes and look of my subjects when i drew them. Then, I challenged myself with mixed mediums and then markers and paint. 

Don't be afraid to add a background, or color. If you are worried about adding color to a sketch, you can photocopy the drawing, and color the copy if you still want to try to color

when coloring, a good idea is to color in the same direction, such as when you fill in a space, color marks should be parallel to avoid streaks.
