Chapter 9
I walk down to dinner, in a good mood. I eat quickly, so I have extra time to get ready for hockey practice. “I’m going to go get ready,” I say standing up, and walking my plate to the dishwasher. “Okay, be ready by 6:30” Mom says. I have 30 minutes. I got upstairs, pack my bag, and put my uniform and pads on. “So who’s the boy?” I hear Claire voice come from my door. “Oh, just a friend I met today.” I say, adjusting my left shoulder pad. “Just a friend?” She asks. “Yes, just a friend.” I say, trying to convince her. “Do you like him as a friend, or something more.” God, I hate when she does this. “I mean yes, he is funny, and smart, and cute-“ “Cute, you just called him cute.” She says smirking. “But we are just friends, I am not getting my hopes up. Expect disappointment and you’ll never be disappointed.”I pick up my phone “Please do not start quoting MJ. Just cause I took you to that SpiderMan movie, doesn’t mean you get to go around the house quoting it.” She laughs, half joking, half not. She shuts my door with one final smirk, and the I’m watching you stare. I sit down on my bed, it’s 6:17. I have one text from Hunter asking what I should get Cathy for Valentine’s Day, even though it’s August. I respond with.
DARK chocolate, cause she’s dead inside
He responds a few minutes larder with
Ha Ha, not funny dude. I’m going to ask Ester. She will probably give me a helpful answer
I respond with,
My answer was helpful. But I got to go to hockey now so good luck, you still have seven months to figure it out.
I throw my phone in my hockey bag, grab the keys to my car, and drive to practice.
