I make a stop at the grocery store and take my time getting all the groceries my mom texted me. I have nothing to do until my hockey game, so I decided to get them now. I am starting to get really nervous about inviting Harry to one of my hockey games. What if I don’t play good, what if I make a wrong pass, or miss a shot. I try to calm down while I’m checking out. The cashier looks up and me. “You alright kid?” I blink and look up at him. “Oh yeah, I’m fine. Just freaking out a little bit.” Off I go, no stopping my mouth. “What’s got you freaking out?” “I invited this person I really, really like to one of my hockey games tonight,” he doesn’t look down, but keeps scanning my items. “Well I’m sure she’s happy to be going.” I don’t even try to correct him, as I let out a weak laugh. “Yeah, I’m sure she is,” he hands me my grocery bags, “Relax kid. You’ll do fine,” “Yeah, I’ll try. Thanks” I say and walk out to my Jeep, it’s 5:20, I’ll get home around 5:45. That gives me about 15 minutes to get ready, before I leave. The stadium is only about 20 minutes from my house, but I have to leave earlier if I want to pick up Harry. I get home, and I see that my mom forgot to shut the garage door. I walk in though the garage and shut it. I open the door and set the groceries on the counter. I find my mom in her room asleep so I decided to leave a note.
Hey mom, I have a game tonight, if you wake up and I’m not here I’m at my game. Love you - Zach
I set it on her night stand and go up stairs with 10 minutes to get ready. I pack my pads, skates, and hockey stick. Then grab my jersey from my closet and pack that too. I grab my car keys, throw my bag in bag seat and set off towards Harry’s house.
