A teenager's own gender Part: 1

Chapter 1

A teenagers own gender - Part one -

The sun rose gently upon our appartment. Filling it with warmth and some sort of illumination inside my soul. But of course that was all ruined when mum came and woke me up, my day started as usual, rise up from my bed and look out the small window next to it. I always somehow forget to carfully make my way out of my costriphobic room after looking out that same window. Every time I see the same thing, the big group of people standing between our local pharmacy and dairy smoking a strange smelling thing. I think it's a sort of drug. They also really show off their obesity in those lose red clothes. I also spy out the cold fog that really hints towards the fact that we live in Toronto, Canada. But anyway, as I was; so after I had breakfast, got dressed, brushed my teeth, and made my bed, me and my little 10 year old brother sat infront of my window next to my bed, and causiously watched the men in red smoke away their funny smelling drug and leave, while mum kindly packed our lunches for us. The reason why we did this almost every morning was because of the traumatizing event that took place when I was on ly about 7 years old, and jonas, nearly 2. I was trying to draw Mrs kalaha before they took off in their car that was parked infront of the local pahrmacy, where the men in red normally hang out. before I could finish my sketch, the men in red made quite a scene. A very violent scene. I was only 7 at the time so I just sat there stunned, and dispite the fact that from the outside I probably looked like a wide eyed girl who was as white as a ghost, my mother was infront of me in my bed and still didn't know what was happening. Until she heard the sound of thrashing metal from the bloody scene outside. She emmediately looked out and for a moment, it looked like she had skipped a couple of breaths. She dragged us up into the bathroom and listened to her conversation on the phone with the police. They arrived soon after, but the Kalahas were already gone. Mum's best friend, and my first ever crush, slaghtered. Right infront of my face. But back to now, as me and Jonas await inside for just a few more minutes until they leave. Mum drives us to school but just like every other time, I still can't get my mind off the fact that those disgusting criminals thought that they were the kings of the neibour hood. The horrible truth is, they are.
