Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology and Charms
Chapter 9
"Morning guys." I yawned as I sat in between Leona and Dylan.
"Morning." The three chorused.
"Sorry I came down late, I lost track of time."
"It's alright, lessons aren't for another forty minutes anyways." Melody reassured me.
"Ah, thanks."
"What have we got?" Asked Dylan as he cut a piece of bacon on his plate.
Leona reached down for her bag which was underneath her chair. "Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Charms, Break, Potions, Lunch and double Transfiguration."
"Very action packed day." Melody grinned.
"Yeah, practically all the core classes that we have in the day but flying." I laughed.
Forty minutes later, we were sitting in the basic classroom of Professor Quirrell, who was teaching us about jinxes.
"That was exciting." Leona said sarcastically when the lesson was over.
"So intriguing." Melody added.
"But seriously, how can we take notes when he stammers and stutters? I get some people can't help it, but he sounds like he's doing it on purpose!" Dylan stormed.
"Come on guys, let's go to Herbology." I laughed. "I can guarantee it will be more interesting."
Unfortunately, it wasn't. We were learning about Muggle Plants which over three quarters of the class knew about. We spent it whispering.
"Hey!" A boy with sandy-blonde hair just above his shoulders and Gryffindor robes elbowed his way past us. "Not paying attention in class! I can't wait to see Ravenclaw lose points!"
"Shut it!" Dylan called after him.
"Do you know him?" I asked as we walked towards Charms class.
"Sort of. His parents are Death Eaters. Mine told me to watch out for him."
"Do you know his name?"
"Uhh.. begins with a Z."
"Z... Zach?" Melody prompted. "Or-"
"No, that's it! Zachary."
In Charms we had to learn the Levitation Charm, Wingardium Leviosa. At the end of the lesson, Professor Flitwick, the Charms teacher, said he would choose two students to demonstrate.
"Umm... Miss Baker." He squeaked and Melody went up.
"Lingardium Weviosa!" She did the wand movement perfectly but messed up the incantation. She went red as Zachary snickered.
Professor Flitwick caught him laughing. "Mr King, would you like like to try?"
"Certainly. Wingardium Leviosa!" He did it flawlessly.
Melody stomped out at the end of the lesson. "Weviosa. Really? Weviosa? I sounded like a baby!"
"Just because you got that one incantation wrong, doesn't mean you're awful at Charms." Leona comforted her. "He's a bully and don't let the bullies push you around!"
