Potions and Transfiguration

Chapter 10

When we walked into the cold, dark Dungeons, I realised that Melody still felt upset.
"Melody, don't take any notice of it. If you feel OK tomorrow, forget about it, if you don't, tell McGonagall. She's the Head of Gryffindor."
"It's not that." She replied. "Well, he's not really a bully, is he? I mean, he was slightly rude in Herbology and chuckled a bit when I couldn't cast the spell, but that doesn't make him a BULLY. Plus, it wasn't his fault I couldn't cast it."
"Actually, you have a point." Leona nodded. "But he's mean, so just ignore him."
"Yeah, I guess. He was qui-".
"Guys, we're five minutes late for Potions." Dylan interrupted.
When we walked in, a man in a dark purple cloak with black hair that was about 2 inches above his shoulders.
"You are five minutes late to class." He said in a cold, calm voice. "As I was explaining earlier I am Professor Snape and today we will be learning about antidotes. Are you going to sit down?"
"Yes Professor."
Unfortunately, there were only three empty seats next to each other but Dylan said he would sit behind.
"Good. Now we shall begin."
His lesson was quite interesting. Well, it would have been if it was anyone but Snape teaching. He seemed to favour the Slytherins and Zachary.
"Class dismissed." He said after the lesson.
"Where did Zachary go?" I asked.
"Oh, he went to clean up." Leona rolled her eyes.
"But we were only learning. We didn't brew anything." Melody looked confused.
"Oh, he was probably cleaning every speck of dirt off the floor." Dylan joked and we all laughed.
"Oh, we're the first to a class." Leona muttered to me as we entered the pretty Transfiguration classroom.
"You're a few minutes early." The Professor smiled. "Today we are transfiguring rats into water goblets. Could you hand these boxes out? I am Professor McGonagall by the way."
We gladly handed out the boxes of mice and other people started coming in the classroom.
"Thank you." Professor Mcgonagall said as Leona handed out the last box. "10 points to Ravenclaw."
We sat in some tall wooden chairs that a shy Hufflepuff girl had saved for us to sit in. I sat next to her and Leona. "Thanks." I whispered.
"Professor!" Zachary stuck his hand up. "What did they do to get points?"
"They handed out these boxes, Zachary." Professor McGonagall said coldly. "Of mice. We will be transfiguring mice into water goblets."
A few people squealed but Zachary said "That's easy. Way too easy."
The lesson went nicely and, just like Flitwick, McGonagall wanted volunteers. Zachary put his hand up again, as well as me, Leona, Dylan, the Hufflepuff and a few others.
"Mr King and Miss Adams."
A Gryffindor put his hand up. "Zachary was up in Charms."
"He can volunteer again if he wants. Now, you can both go at the same time or one at a time."
"Same time." They chorused. "Vera Verto!"
They both said the incantation perfectly but I could see Zachary add a flick to his wand movement. Leona's mouse had turned into a shining silver goblet but Zachary's was a goblet with ears and a tail.
"Good try, Zachary. Leona, that was excellent! 5 points to Ravenclaw! Class dismissed!"
"Well done, Leo!" I clapped when we came out of class.
"That was great!" Melody and Dylan said at the same time.
"How did that feel?" Melody called out to Zachary when he stormed past.
"Poor Zach!" We mocked when he had gone, and burst into laughter.
