The Return To Hogwarts
Chapter 3
Amelia, Isabell, Albert and Olivia were in Hogwarts Express, waiting for the time to be eleven o’clock.
‘When will this train come already?’ Isabell said impatiently.
‘Relax, Isabell.’
Amelia rolled her eyes.
‘Ah, here it comes,’ Olivia said.
Albert had to go somewhere for a minute or two so he got separated from the girls.
Their facial features had slightly changed. They entered the train and found an empty compartment.
After a while, someone entered the compartment. He was holding an orange cat. It was…
‘Albert. Hi,’ said Olivia breathlessly.
‘Hey Albert,’ Amelia and Isabell said in unison.
His messy dark ginger hair was a little bit longer and his eyes were still as hazel as ever. His handsome face had remained the same and it was still proportioned.
‘Hey, can I sit with you guys? If you don’t mind,’ he asked as he messed up his hair.
‘Sure,’ Olivia said hastily as he sat in front of her.
There was silence for a moment.
‘Right, I need to do prefect work,’ Olivia said as she quickly left the compartment.
‘First years, follow me to get you a compartment,’ they heard Olivia say.
‘She must enjoy being a prefect,’ said Isabell glumly.
‘I guess…’ said Albert. ‘I-I’m a prefect too.’
‘Then why aren’t you helping her?’ Amelia questioned, arching an eyebrow.
‘I didn’t want to disturb her after what happened last year…’ said Albert.
‘You mean when her parents almost killed you and Draco’s father almost killed Olivia, along with Amelia’s father and Olivia was forced to torture Amelia. I kind of forgot about that in the holidays, to be honest. And Amelia had to get that crystal orb, or prophecy rather, and I-’ Isabell started.
‘Ok, Ok, I get it!’
Albert looked down angrily.
‘Mr. Malfoy wanted the crystal orb from who they call “The Chosen One”.’
‘Harry Potter… The Chosen One…’
‘And my father was caught this time, thank god!’ said Amelia.
‘But the Dragonhearts weren’t caught…’
‘Yeah, and Olivia was tortured so she got him, your father, Amelia, that orb thing! But thank god you, Amelia, caught it again and broke it to pieces,’ Isabell said.
‘Now V-Voldemort (Isabell and Albert flinched) has risen to power and now everyone believes that Harry didn’t lie about him rising…’
‘Fudge had to not believe him and make us end up getting hurt trying to find out about our prophecy that we found there!’
‘I don’t think Fudge has got to do anything with that prophecy we found, Albert,’ Amelia said, thinking hard.
‘Well, thank god he isn’t Minister anymore. He’d just play about with his fancy hat and pretend like this world is all cupcakes, unicorns and rainbows,’ Albert said. ‘And that Umbridge woman! She was a total nightmare! She punished you Isabell the most because of something her father had done with her! She kicked out Dumbledore! She was a gruesome old bird indeed.’
‘The only fun thing about last year was Dumbledore’s Army…’ Amelia sighed as Albert and Isabell nodded in agreement.
‘What did that prophecy say anyways?’ Isabell said worriedly.
‘No one knows,’ said Amelia hastily.
‘I’m back…’ Olivia said as she entered the compartment.
She looked at their guilty expressions.
‘You’re talking about that prophecy, aren’t you...’
‘No?’ said Isabell, looking guilty.
‘Don’t lie to me, Isabell. Besides, no one heard it except for Ha-’
The train made a sudden stop.
‘That’s it guys! We’re here,’ said Amelia, interrupting her.
‘Let’s go Albert, we have to show the first years where to go.’
Olivia quickly grabbed Albert’s wrist and ran out of the compartment. Amelia and Isabell glanced at each other.
‘Can you believe it has actually been five years since our first day on this train?’ asked Amelia, trying to change the subject.
‘Yeah, great,’ Isabell said as she stroked Mocha.
‘We finally get to choose our own subjects!’
‘What will you choose?’ Isabell asked, joining the interesting conversation.
‘Well, I’m definitely not going to choose Divination. Trelawney kept making predictions that Harry would die or whatever!’
‘That was so boring in our third year! She’s such a fraud,’ agreed Isabell.
‘I’m going to choose the subjects that are required for me to become an auror…’ Amelia said.
‘I thought you wanted to become a Quidditch player or something to do with quidditch?’ said Isabell, carrying her trunk as Amelia opened the compartment door for them to leave.
‘Well… it’s hard to decide really. Maybe I could do a secondary job that has got to do with Quidditch.’
‘Flitwick will ask us which subjects we want to take and-’ began Isabell.
‘C’MON EVERYONE, LEAVE THE TRAIN PLEASE!’ a loud voice yelled. Isabell rolled her eyes.
They saw Draco pass them, face paler than ever. Light black bags under his eyes. His platinum blonde hair not sleek anymore, but messy. He didn’t look at them. He wasn’t like how he looked when they saw him in Diagon Alley.
Amelia looked suspicious.
‘I thought Draco bullied people with his ‘prefect power’?’ Isabell said.
‘I dunno, he seemed sad over the summer,’ said Amelia, shrugging.
‘EVERYONE! LEAVE THE TRAIN!’ a voice yelled again.
‘Oh dear! Let’s go Amelia,’ said Isabell, running out of the compartment.
Amelia and Isabell ran out of the train, but Isabell noticed that one compartment had its blinds closed.
‘I need to check something,’ Isabell said as she hurried back into the train
‘Oh, ok- WAIT!’
Isabell headed for the end of the train, where the Slytherins hung out. She walked cautiously through the big compartment door and looked around. Nothing seemed suspicious.
‘Is anyone here?’ she asked.
There was no sound.
Isabell decided to keep exploring until she collapsed on the floor. She looked behind her.
‘Must be someone invisible,’ she said as she looked at an empty space underneath her.
She put her hands around, trying to find something. She then felt something smooth and pulled it. Harry Potter was on the floor. Dry blood was under his nose.
‘Harry? What are you doing here?’ Isabell asked. ‘And why on earth is there blood under your nose?’
‘Draco,’ Harry said.
‘Right. We need to go before this train heads back to London.’
They quickly rushed towards the doors, which started to close. The train started moving a little. Harry approached the door and jumped out of the train and landed on the platform.
‘Come on!’ Harry yelled as Isabell stood by the closing door
Isabell jumped and fell hard on her knees.
‘Ouch-’ said Isabell, rubbing her knees.
‘Let’s go before the feast ends,’ said Harry, helping Isabell get up.
‘Ok.’
They both ran but found the gate closed.
‘Oh, no! How are we going to get inside now?’ asked Isabell.
‘I wondered where you two were,’ squeaked someone.
It was Professor Flitwick. His moustache was still bushy and he was still short.
‘Hello Professor, we were uhm- stuck in the train-’ began Harry.
‘Names please.’
‘Sir, you know who I am,’ Harry groaned.
‘Names.’
‘Harry Potter.’
‘Isabell Bluesky.’
‘Ok, just a second,’ squeaked Flitwick. ‘Filch! I need someone to lead them to the castle! Hagrid please!’
No one replied. Suddenly, a man with greasy black hair appeared.
‘Not him. Anyone but him,’ Isabell said, eyeing Snape, who looked back as his thin lips curled.
‘I’ll take these two, Filius.’
‘I thought I asked for Hagrid to come?’ asked Flitwick.
‘Hagrid… is late,’ said Snape in a low voice.
Harry and Isabell exchanged concerned looks.
Snape led them to the Great Hall.
‘I suppose you think because you’re “The Chosen One”, you could come in fashionably late?’ he asked coldly.
‘No, sir,’ replied Harry, his fury rising.
‘ISABELL!’ yelled a voice.
‘Amelia?’
Isabell ran to the Ravenclaw, and she found Olivia and Amelia looking worried.
‘What happened?’ Olivia enquired worriedly.
‘I’ll explain later,’ said Isabell, staring at the Slytherin table, which was where Draco was.
‘I saw Draco miming something to do with a nose,’ said Olivia suspiciously.
‘You missed most of the Feast, but there’s always dessert!’ said Amelia, handing Isabell a treacle tart.
‘One thing that’s never changed about you is that you love food,’ laughed Olivia.
‘I never loved food,’ said Isabell, her mouth full.
Amelia raised her eyebrows.
‘I just need to eat food or I get really annoyed.’
Olivia and Amelia looked very confused.
‘I think everyone filled their stomachs, so it is time for bed!’ said Professor Dumbledore. ‘But first I need to say something important.’
The girls exchanged concerned looks.
‘First, let’s welcome Professor Horace Slughorn, your new Potions teacher.’
‘WHAT?’ the girls heard Harry yell.
Ron and Hermione looked shocked, as though they had seen their worst fear.
‘Meanwhile, Professor Snape will take the job as the teacher of Defence Against the Dark Arts.’
The Slytherin table applauded Snape enthusiastically, since Snape’s dream job was to become a Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. Professor Mcgonagall held her fork and hit her cup lightly, making a loud clunk! The room went quiet almost immediately.
‘Once, the world was pure, free of evil spirits. But now, a pure evil soul has risen to power. It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more. Of course, you all know it is. Lord Voldemort (some people gasped or flinched) is getting more powerful as we speak. But if we unite and work together, we can make this world free of evil spirits once again. We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. You have to learn that, even if you are scared or afraid, you have to fight for your friends, for your family, for your school. And the most important thing is that as long as we can love, we are safe. Don’t be afraid of death as it is just another great adventure.’
Everyone looked at Dumbledore in awe or shock. Amelia noticed that Draco looked bored.
‘Now, off to your beds!’
Olivia and Albert stood up immediately.
‘First years! Follow me to your Common Room!’ Olivia said as nervous first years followed her and Albert.
‘I guess we go as well?’ asked Isabell, looking at Amelia.
‘Just a sec, I have to do something,’ said Amelia as she got up.
She saw someone with platinum blonde hair pass by.
‘Draco! Wait up!’
Draco made a stop, not turning around.
‘So… how is your secret mission?’ asked Amelia.
Draco had told her that he had been asked to do something important for his father. Though he didn’t tell her exactly what it was.
‘I-I haven't started it yet…’
‘Is it for good… or evil?’
Draco shuddered.
‘Uh, for both.’
‘Ok, if you need any help, I’ll be there,’ said Amelia.
Draco nodded and headed off to the dungeons.
‘What were you doing by the Slytherin table?’ asked Isabell as Amelia walked back to her.
Amelia didn’t say anything, making Isabell a little concerned and suspicious.
They went up the stairs, following some first-year students.
‘Now, this is our Common Room. To enter it you will have to solve the riddle or question the door knob asks you,’ Albert explained.
‘Why do they have to do that every year,’ groaned Isabell.
Olivia eyed her.
‘There are new students every year, Isabell,’ she said.
‘Now, first years. Please follow us.’
First years nervously followed her and Albert.
‘Is it me or is Olivia more… serious and bossy now?’ asked Isabell.
‘She certainly changed after what happened last year,’ replied Albert, whispering.
Olivia heard them, and she rubbed her eyes slightly.
The door knob, which was shaped like an eagle, started speaking in a cool voice.
‘Where do vanished objects go?’
‘Where do they go…’ asked Isabell ironically.
‘Give the First years a chance,’ muttered Olivia as she glared at Isabell.
‘I know, I know!’ yelled a First year boy.
He had messy dark ginger hair and brown eyes.
Olivia looked at him, then at Albert, who nodded.
‘That’s my brother I told you about. His name’s William.’
Amelia felt her stomach flip. That was the same name as her father…
Why do I care….? There are a lot of people in the world named William…
‘You tell her things which you don’t tell us?’ Isabell said.
‘I’m more comfortable with telling her things,’ Albert said without hesitation.
Amelia rolled her eyes then caught Isabell’s eye, who grinned.
‘Vanished objects go into anything!’
‘Correct answer, you may enter,’ said the cool voice.
The Common Room was the same as it was. Circular and wide as the windows gave a marvellous view of the sky. The only change was the prefect’s names which were plastered on the door. It read:
Girl Prefect: Olivia Dragonheart
Boy Prefect: Albert Foxglove
If you need any help with where to go, just ask them and they will assist you.
‘Now, Boy’s Dormitories is up the stairs on the left, (Albert pointed towards the Dormitory) and the Girl’s Dormitories is the same but on the right,’ Olivia said loud and clear as she pointed at the Girls’ Dormitory.
‘Will we get timetables?’ asked a First year girl.
‘You will get them tomorrow in the Great Hall,’ Albert replied.
The girls headed to the right of the stairs and the boys headed to the left. Only Amelia, Olivia, Isabell, Albert and some other sixth and seventh years stayed behind as they were allowed to stay up until ten o’clock.
‘So… yeah,’ said Isabell, looking awkward and scratching her neck.
‘What subjects are you doing, Olivia?’ Amelia asked nervously.
‘I dunno, probably all of them except Divination.’
‘Even Muggle studies?’ asked Albert.
‘Oh, I'm ditching that, it was too boring,’ said Olivia, stroking Twilight.
‘Amelia talked to Draco at the Slytherin table, by the way,’ said Isabell, trying to ease things up.
‘What?’ Olivia stood up so quickly that Twilight hissed in anger as he jumped off her.
‘She didn’t tell me about what though!’ Isabell added hastily.
Amelia glared at Isabell.
‘And why would you talk to him after Mr. Malfoy-’ began Albert.
Olivia looked down.
‘He’s not like his father!’ said Amelia, looking angrily at Isabell.
‘Oh yeah? What about last year when he literally bullied everyone and-’ said Olivia, but before she could complete her sentence, Amelia stormed off.
‘Olivia! Why would you talk like that about someone who’s her friend!’ said Isabell.
‘You started telling us about what she did!’ Albert said.
‘His father t-tortured me and almost made me have a dark mark! The dark mark! And when he said that he is working for his father, obviously it’s got to be evil!’
‘But did Draco do that himself? No!’
‘He’s exactly like his filthy father!’ said Olivia, rising from her soft chair.
‘CALM DOWN!’ Albert yelled, silencing everyone.
Several other sixth years looked at them.
‘The Boys’ Dormitory is on the left, not the right!’ Olivia suddenly yelled as a First year boy headed to the wrong Dormitory.
‘Can we just go to sleep?’ asked Isabell.
‘Yeah, let’s go,’ replied Albert, looking nervously at Olivia.
Olivia was the first one to sleep but Isabell and Amelia were wide awake.
‘Thanks for that, Isabell,’ Amelia muttered.
‘Sorry… and also, sorry about her, she’s just really stressed,’ said Isabell.
‘I understand, but I want her to understand that Draco isn’t like his father,’
‘Ok, night Amelia,’
‘G’night.’
