A New Mission
Chapter 26
They followed her quickly, and she led them to Dumbledore’s office.
Of course! She’s the new headmistress, Olivia thought.
‘So as you can see, I am the new headmistress but will soon be replaced,’ said Mcgonagall, gesturing to them to sit down on the chairs in front of the desk.
Nobody said anything.
‘Before Dumbledore’s death, he has set you three a mission you must do,’ Professor Mcgonagall as she cleared her throat in the mention of the death of Dumbledore. ‘Of course, he had also set Amelia one, but that is in the past.’
The girls and Albert looked at each other with narrowed eyes.
‘Now. He made me swear that I would never open these parchments and envelopes, for they are top secret and must be sent to you when the time comes. Voldemort has risen to power and it’s time we do something about it. Of course, Harry Potter is the chosen one, for he has to be the one to kill Voldemort.’
The girls and Albert nodded to show they understood.
‘So here are the letters.’
Professor Mcgonagall looked in the drawer of the desk and got out four envelopes, but the fourth one, she put it on the desk.
Olivia opened her letter and it read:
Dear Olivia Dragonheart,
There will be a time where evil will try to embrace our humble country. Everyone would need your courage, intelligence and skill. Everyone would depend on you. There would also be a time when evil might embrace you… Learn to block evil from entering your pure soul, Olivia. In the envelope, which Professor Minerva Mcgonagall has kept safe, there will be something which will prove useful for your mission. The mission is written on a parchment in the envelope. Good spirits are always with you.
Sincerely,
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.
When she finished reading the letter, Olivia looked shocked, yet proud. She looked at the next letter in the envelope. The mission.
Alert: This is the mission letter. Read the other one first.
Olivia Dragonheart, I assume you have read the other letter first. Thank you for doing so and not skipping to this one. Now, the mission.
This is a very important letter, Olivia, even more important than the one before.
Your mission is to:
Stay and protect Hogwarts from all evil. I know you think it seems pointless, but believe me, there will be at least one Death Eater at Hogwarts. And that Death Eater could kill many students. I want you to protect them. I want you to risk your life trying to find that evil soul. Student lives are dependent on you. There is also something I want you to do, but you don’t have to. I want you to start- or rather continue, Dumbledore’s army.
I hope you succeed and I wish you all the luck you need- which is not much as you are extremely talented.
Thank you.
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
Olivia opened the parcel that came in the envelope and it revealed a small model of a Hungarian Horntail-one of the fiercest dragons. Olivia looked at it curiously and found words etched on one of the dragon’s wings:
This will help. When the time comes, you will know this is going to help. Do not use it for pointless things, though you won’t be able to use it anyway.
Olivia looked at it in surprise.
How is this going to help me?
A voice in her head replied.
Dumbledore has his ways.
Olivia nodded and put the two letters and the Hungarian Horntail in her pocket. Professor Mcgonagall noticed this.
‘I am afraid you can’t put it in your pocket, Ms. Dragonheart. It might get lost.’
Olivia arched her brows slightly.
‘Professor Dumbledore told me to give you this,’ said Professor Mcgonagall as she got out a small, beady bag.
‘What does this do?’
‘You will see,’ Professor Mconagall said, a kind smile on her face.
Olivia put the two letters and the Hungarian Horntail inside the small beady bag. No surprises were revealed.
Professor Mcgonagall then placed an Undetectable Extension Charm on it.
‘Try it now.’
Professor Mcgonagall gave her books that were bigger than the beaded bag. Olivia took them and placed them in the bag. The bag remained in its shape, even though the books were inside.
‘You can put in as many possessions as you please.’
Isabell looked very eager to open her envelope. She opened the first letter and it read:
Dear Isabell Bluesky,
You are one of the kindest people I had ever met in my long life. I personally think you should’ve been in Hufflepuff. Though the sorting hat thought you were smarter than kind. I should also agree on that. You are extremely intelligent and I noticed you had a thing with communicating with animals, one of the most rare Magical Talents. I know there will be a time when evil takes over, it already did. I mean it will take over your friends. Olivia and Amelia. This is not your mission, but I want you to make sure they do not. In the envelope, which Professor Minerva Mcgonagall has kept safe, there will be something which will prove useful for your mission. The mission is written on a parchment in the envelope which Professor Mcgonagall would have given you. I know you are capable of anything that stands in your way.
Sincerely,
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
Isabell smiled at the letter. She then looked at the envelope and took out the next letter. It read:
This is the letter about the mission. Read the other one first. I assume you have read the other letter first. Thank you for doing so and not skipping to this one. This letter is the most important letter of them that was sent to you. And you must keep it safe.
Now, your mission is the following, Isabell.
Isabell looked at the letter. Nothing was written next.
‘Aparecium!’
Words magically appeared when Isabell’s wand touched the parchment.
You worked it out. Well done. I was testing you on whether you would try this spell. And you did. Now, your mission is to stay at Hogwarts with your fellow friends. Another mission is to return Amelia’s purity. By the time I leave this world, Amelia would have joined Voldemort along with Draco Malfoy. She is not evil, her soul is partly pure. But, she loves Draco Malfoy, and she would do anything to help him. Once again, her soul is partly pure. You must let her see that. In the envelope, there will be something that will help you on the mission inside the envelope.
Best of luck,
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.
Isabell eagerly looked in the envelope and felt metal. In her hand, she found a metal chocolate cake. She examined it. Words appeared on it. It seemed that they were etched on and would only appear if Isabell touched it.
This will be useful at a time. Do not try and use it now, it will be pointless as you do not even know what it does. But, it will work at a time. One time. Only once.
Isabell put her letters and the metal chocolate cake in the beady bag Olivia was holding. Finally, Albert took his envelope. It contained only one letter and a small parcel. The letter read:
Dear Albert Foxglove,
You are probably wondering why Oliva and Isabell have got two letters.
Well, your mission is the most important one of all of them. I think you are a wonderful person and would do anything to protect your friends and family as they are the most important things in life. Please do not waste your pure soul. You are fully free of evil spirits, but Olivia and Amelia aren’t…
One of your missions is to protect Olivia, Amelia and Isabell. I am depending on you to keep them safe. Amelia would be hard protecting her if she had joined Voldemort, but I want you to do anything to keep the girls safe. I also want you to also protect Hogwarts along with Olivia and Isabell. There is a parcel- that is extremely important- in the envelope.
Sincerely,
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
Albert looked inside the envelope. Inside was a small sneakoscope, an object which was a type of Dark Detector that looked like a glass spinning top. It lit up, spun, and whistled if someone was doing something untrustworthy nearby. Albert shoved it in his pocket, shaking a hand towards Olivia. He didn’t know why it was important, but he shrugged.
‘I’ll keep it with me.’
Olivia raised her eyebrows then nodded.
‘What if it gets lost?’ Isabell asked, squinting to see the sneakoscope.
Albert noticed and pushed it deeper into his pocket.
‘It won’t,’ he said, putting his letter in the purple beady bag, which Olivia was holding open for him.
They looked at Professor Mcgonagall, eager to hear some more.
‘That is all. However, Dumbledore told me that you have to stick with your mission. Understood?’
They nodded in unison.
‘Good. Now off you go.’
Professor Mcgonagall waved them away as she looked at the fourth envelope suspiciously. They hid behind the large door to see if she would open it. But, she put it back in the drawer. Olivia looked at the drawer then at Isabell and Albert, who took her expression to mean: “Let’s try and open the envelope”.
‘Nope, never in a million years. Never,’ Isabell whispered, shaking her head.
‘C’mon Isabell, don’t you want to find out what Dumbledore wrote for Amelia?’ Albert asked, grinning slightly.
‘No.’
‘Please? What if Amelia is never going to get her letter? Maybe we can give it to her!’ Olivia whisper-shouted.
Isabell glanced at her worriedly.
‘I really don’t agree with this idea, but fine.’
Olivia grinned. They waited for Professor Mcgonagall to exit the office, and she did. They cautiously entered. They looked behind the desk, and there were about ten drawers.
‘Now what?’ breathed Isabell.
‘We look for the envelope.’
Albert bit his lip and looked at Olivia anxiously, who remained calm.
‘I have a spell…’ Olivia whispered. ‘But it might take a long time, and make a loud noise.’
‘We have no time to lose, Olivia! Professor Mcgonagall could be here in any minute.
Olivia took a deep breath.
‘Spelius Revelio.’
The spell made a quiet hooting sound, then it made a loud beeping noise. Albert and Isabell jumped in surprise then looked at the slightly open door, which revealed no one.
‘Thank god. Nasty spell you’ve got there…’
The eighth drawer opened and the envelope emerged from it and landed gently on the desk.
‘Ready?’ Olivia asked as she touched the envelope.
‘Ready,’ both Albert and Isabell said breathlessly.
Olivia opened the envelope and got out the second letter. But when she touched it…
Good try Ms. Dragonheart, Bluesky and Mr. Foxglove. I particularly protected this letter in case of anything like this, though I didn’t expect you would do it.
Olivia went red then gaped at the words. She shook her head.
‘Of course, this is Dumbledore we’re talking about…’
She sighed and placed the letter in the envelope and put it in the drawer. She gestured to Albert and Isabell to exit the room.
