Weasley's Wizard Wheezes

Chapter 2

Amelia had arrived at Isabell’s house. Isabell opened the door but didn’t let Amelia in. Amelia arched her brows in surprise, trying to push the door open. But Isabell wouldn’t let her.

‘Uh-’

‘Are you a Death Eater?’ Isabell had questioned.

‘No-’

‘At what age did we meet?’

‘Eleven!’

Isabell opened the door and let her in.

‘What was that for?’

‘Come in. Sorry, I had to check, you know.’

Amelia stayed in the spare room and Isabell stayed with her for an hour or two. Amelia removed her cloak before she realised that her clothes were dirt and mud-stained. Isabell acted fast and handed Amelia some spare white clothes. Two brown owls hooted outside the room’s windowsill, tapping on the window with their orange beaks. Isabell rushed to the window and opened it, so the owls zoomed in and landed gently in front of Isabell. Amelia hurried back from the bathroom in clean clothes, having heard the commotion outside.

‘Our O.W.L. grades!’ Isabell said excitedly.

Isabell opened the letter and saw her grades:

‘I can’t believe I got an O in Care of Magical Creatures, I thought I was going to fail,’ Isabell exclaimed, laughing.

Amelia grinned as she thumped Isabell on the back. She opened her letter, her blue eyes widening in disbelief.

‘Six Outstandings! Great job!’

Amelia smiled broadly as she put the letter deep in her trunk.

‘We have to sleep because we need to wake up early tomorrow and get our school things.’

Amelia nodded and already felt her eyelids close. She yawned loudly and her head fell on the comfy pillow and felt a warm blanket cover her.  She soon fell asleep.

It was the next day that Isabell and Amelia woke up and were dressing up to go to Diagon Alley. Mr. Bluesky was accompanying them to make sure that they were safe and no danger happened to them whatsoever. They wore Muggle clothing, which was jeans and a hoodie. They exited the Bluesky Mansion, leaving Ivan and Mrs. Bluesky staying in it. Mr. Bluesky gestured to the girls to enter his car, which was blue in colour, of course. The seats were made of black leather. Amelia and Isabell sat comfortably on the seats and felt the car hover a few inches from the ground. Mr. Bluesky pressed on a silver button and the car started going higher, higher, higher, until it was about fifty feet from the ground. The car started to go forward and soon, they were headed toward Diagon Alley.

‘Your car is amazing,’ Amelia spoke, admiring the inside of Mr. Bluesky’s car.

‘That’s what all the Ministry employees tell me!’ Mr. Bluesky chuckled, looking at the backseats where Amelia and Isabell sat.

It took them little time to reach their destination. Amelia and Isabell were instructed to follow wherever Mr. Bluesky went. They entered a pub, which was unusually empty. Amelia and Isabell were used to seeing many people of the ages twenty and above sitting on the stools with their pointy hats, chattering and buzzing.

‘People these days are afraid of going out,’ Mr. Bluesky explained as he looked around the place.

They finally reached a brick wall. Mr. Bluesky, with his wand, tapped on three bricks. The bricks of the wall were slowly separating, until it formed a passage, which Isabell, Amelia and Mr. Bluesky went through. The shops of Diagon Alley were almost deserted. Barely anyone was in the alleys and shops. There were posters covering the display windows of almost every single shop. Most posters were about the Death Eaters that escaped from Azkaban. It even seemed that most shopkeepers weren’t around, either.

‘Where is everybody?’ Isabell asked worriedly.

‘Probably scared,’ Amelia answered as they continued to walk the empty path.

They decided to go to Madam Malkin’s, for they had grown in length and their school robes were getting smaller. They thought that they were the only ones to enter the shop when they saw a teenage boy with platinum blonde hair, pale skin and grey eyes. The boy looked at them and smirked.

‘Bluesky and Clearwater are here. I’m surprised, I expected you both to just stay at home like good children,’ he drawled.

‘Very funny, Draco,’ Isabell growled while she glared at Draco with pure loath.

He wasn’t alone, though. In a corner of the room was Mrs. Malfoy, her blonde hair done in a bun and her fringe covering her forehead. She had pale skin like her son. Mrs. Malfoy looked at Amelia and completely ignored Isabell. Madam Malkin was busy measuring Draco and trying to adjust the uniform with pins. The bell of the door rang again. Amelia and Isabell jerked their heads to see Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger standing there, accompanied by a man with ginger-red hair and a kind face. The man spotted Mr. Bluesky and cautiously walked towards him.

‘Riley,’ the man said in recognition.

‘Arthur,’ Mr. Bluesky said as he shook hands with Mr. Weasley.

Hermione waved to Amelia and Isabell, who waved back. Harry kindly greeted them then spotted Draco. His face immediately went hateful.

‘Oh, Potter is here,’ Draco said. ‘And the Weasel and mudblood.’

Harry, Ron and Hermione didn’t reply.

Madam Malkin put a pin near Draco’s left forearm.

‘Oi! Watch it!’ Draco suddenly yelled.

‘Dear boy, I’m trying my best to do your-’

‘Mother, let’s just leave,’ Draco yelled as he removed all the pins and the robes on his body fell on the ground.

Draco stepped on the robes, making sure that they got dirty and followed his mother out of the shop with his nose pointed upward. Isabell quickly rushed to the robes and picked them up. Amelia used a spell which made the dusty footprints on the robes vanish.

‘Thank you, kind ladies. Some people are just not kind enough these days,’ Madam Malkin said, sighing.

Isabell nodded in agreement, though Amelia twitched slightly.

Madam Malkin gestured to Isabell to stand on a small platform and started to adjust robes on her.

They had finished and collected their new robes. They then got all the books required for their sixth year. Something grabbed the attention of Amelia and Isabell. It was a brightly coloured shop. Inside were what seemed to be fireworks and loud explosions. It was the only shop that stood out from all the others. It was new, both girls realised.

‘Father, can we check that shop?’ Isabell begged. ‘We finished the shopping early!’

Mr. Bluesky sighed and nodded.

‘This is one tenth of your reward for your grades in the O.W.L’s.’

Isabell and Amelia eagerly went inside the shop, which was named: Weasley Wizard Wheezes. Isabell and Amelia looked at each other. If there was any Weasley that would create such a shop, it would be…

‘Fred and George,’ Isabell realised.

There was a sign near the shop, which read:

WHY WORRY ABOUT YOU-KNOW-WHO?

YOU SHOULD BE WORRYING ABOUT U-NO-POO-

THE CONSTIPATION SENSATION THAT’S GRIPPING THE NATION!

Isabell and Amelia burst out laughing at the sign; it was expected from mischievous pranksters.

‘U-No-Poo, good one,’ Isabell said, still laughing.

Mr. Bluesky looked at the sign in a concerned manner.

They opened the door to see a lot of people surrounding the whole shop. There were stands full of weird and strange things. There were signs near each stand. There were Extendable Ears, Skiving Snackboxes and many more countless joke products placed in every corner of the shop. There were people experimenting with these objects. One boy who looked fourteen, was growing enormous pimples. Another boy was constantly vomiting in a barf bag and several candies next to him. One half of each candy was orange, while the other half was purple. Isabell and Amelia realised that those were Puking Pastilles, which were sometimes used to skip lessons in their fifth year. Those were handed out by Fred and George when Dolores Umbridge, ex-Headmistress of Hogwarts and Ministry of Magic employee, wasn’t around. There was a stand in the middle of the shop, saying: WonderWitch, which were products that were for witches. On one side of the stand, there was a cage. Inside were small fuzzy balls with all shades of pink and purple possible. The balls surprisingly squeaked and started rolling around. Some were close to each other, as though they were cuddling.

‘Ah, those are Pygmy Puffs!’ a voice said.

A young man appeared. He was wearing a set of magenta robes that clashed magnificently with his flaming red hair.

‘Hello, George! Or is it Fred?’ Amelia said, confused.

‘He’s Fred, I’m George!’ another voice said.

Another young man with similar flaming red hair appeared next to his brother. He was also wearing a matching set of magenta robes.

‘Sorry, I always get confused,’ Amelia mumbled apologetically.

‘You’re not the first one-’ Fred began.

‘Our own mother can’t know-’ George spoke.

‘Who’s Fred-

‘Or who’s George!’

‘What are Pygmy Puffs?’ Isabell asked, clearly bewildered.

‘They are cute little creatures-’ began Fred.

‘They are scavengers-’ George continued.

‘They eat pests, like spiders-’

‘They could eat garbage food from your house-’

‘And they remove your boogers with their long tongues while you sleep!’

Isabell was disgusted, while Amelia, on the other hand, was surprised.

‘I don’t need a fuzzy ball to clean my nose with their tongue, thank you very much. I already have a pet owl, anyway,’ Isabell said, now seeing the Pygmy Puffs as creepy small creatures that like to lick boogers out of their owners’ nose.

Amelia and Isabell walked over to the other section of the WonderWitch stand. There were many heart-shaped pink bottles. Amelia thought she smelled cranberry and polished wood. Isabell sniffed a strong scent of chocolate, specifically chocolate with hazelnuts, and damp grass.

‘Those are love potions,’ a young woman spoke.

She was wearing a magenta polo-shirt, with a knee-length magenta skirt and shoes with long, white socks.

‘My name’s Verity, I work here!’ she said. ‘Those love potions make whoever you give it to fall in love with you. It lasts depending on the weight of the drinker and attractiveness of the giver!’

‘Love potions, nonsense,’ Amelia and Isabell heard someone next to them mutter.

It was a teenage girl with pitch black long hair and emerald green eyes. She was holding a love potion and examining it closely.

‘Olivia?’ Isabell gasped.

Olivia looked at them, happy at first, but then she ignored them and turned her focus back to the love potion.

‘Uh, what are you doing here-’ began Amelia.

‘Oh, Albert let me stay at his mother’s house,’ Olivia said in a quite dull tone. ‘His mother is on holiday so he decided it was best if I stay with him rather than stay with my aunt, uncle and cousin.’

‘Correct!’ a new voice spoke.

A handsome teenage boy with messy dark ginger hair, hazel eyes and a well proportioned face stood next to Olivia. He quickly waved at Amelia and Isabell.

‘Hullo, Albert,’ Amelia and Isabell greeted.

Olivia continued ignoring them.

‘I thought you both said you would send me letters?’ she mumbled especially quietly.

Isabell and Amelia eyed each other, plainly having heard her.

‘We wrote one to you recently, but I guess you were already at Albert’s,’ Amelia explained as Olivia nodded in understanding, still trying her best to ignore them.

‘So, what brings you both here?’ Isabell asked.

‘We got all our things and we aren’t really busy. So we just thought we should make a stop here and check this place out,’ Albert explained, giving Olivia a worried look.

Mr. Bluesky appeared out of thin air and looked at Olivia and Albert in horror. Olivia and Albert looked at each other then at Mr. Bluesky. Amelia and Isabell looked at Mr. Bluesky in confusion.

‘You both came without a parent or guardian?’

Albert and Olivia guiltily nodded in unison. Mr. Bluesky was even more horrified.

‘You both will come with me! You can’t just walk into Diagon Alley on your own! Who knows what would happen?’

Olivia and Albert looked down.

‘We were desperate…’ Albert mumbled.

Amelia and Isabell, however, looked happy. Albert and Olivia were going to go with them, so that they would all be together before school even started! Mr. Bluesky sighed and then busied himself with the Extendable Ears. Olivia, Albert, Isabell and Amelia noticed that the three trio - Harry, Ron and Hermione - entered the shop, along with a girl with long ginger-red hair and freckles on her face and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley.

‘Hi, Ginny!’ Amelia said as the ginger-red haired girl approached them.

Ginny Weasley greeted them.

‘Lovely to see you, Amelia, Isabell and Olivia,’ Mrs. Weasley said kindly.

Mr. Weasley gaped at a section called: Muggle Magic Tricks. There were cards in that section and Mr. Weasley zoomed towards it and was apparently interested in the ways of how muggles do tricks.

‘Sorry, Arthur is obsessed with Muggle things,’ Mrs. Weasley said, sighing.

‘But we knew that section would be useful!’ Fred smiled vibrantly as he approached his mother.

George shortly stood next to Fred, each having bright smiles on their mischievous faces.

‘Fred, George, you’ll honestly get killed in your sleep because of that sign outside!’ Mrs. Weasley suddenly scolded.

‘Mother-’ began George.

‘You know nothing-’

‘About how to grab your customer’s attention!’

Hermione and Ginny surrounded the WonderWitch section. George opened the cage door of the Pygmy Puffs and a lavender-purple one leapt onto Ginny’s shoulder. Hermione, on the other hand, was examining the love potions and thought that they were useless, just like Olivia. The three girls and Albert decided to exit the shop and waved goodbye to the Weasley family, Harry and Hermione. Mr. Bluesky looked troubled with something, and Isabell noticed.

‘Dad, what’s up?’ Isabell questioned, her eyebrows arched.

‘I need to go somewhere for a while, but children aren’t allowed in the place I want to go to.’

Mr. Bluesky’s face went serious.

‘Can I trust you children to stay where you are and don’t move an inch?’

The girls and Albert nodded quickly. Mr. Bluesky’s face slowly softened.

‘Stay where you are,’ he said as he walked away.

Mr. Bluesky soon vanished. The three girls and Albert waited patiently for Mr. Bluesky. Thirty minutes passed, and Mr. Bluesky hadn’t returned yet. Their legs felt wobbly from standing too much.

‘Where’s Mr. Bluesky?’ Olivia groaned.

Isabell shrugged. They saw someone swoosh past them. They, however, spotted a glint of grey eyes and platinum blonde hair. It was indeed Draco walking past them.

‘Why is he walking alone, without his mother?’ Amelia asked suspiciously as she stared at Draco, who was walking away.

‘Amelia, don’t you dare think of going after him. Dad said we don’t move-’ Isabell began, but Amelia was already walking cautiously towards Draco, careful not to be seen by him.

Isabell moaned loudly and followed Amelia.

‘Come on, you two!’ Isabell whisper-shouted at Olivia and Albert, who were rooted on the spot.

They eyed each other.

‘Better go to make sure they’re okay…’ Olivia finally said.

Albert sighed and decided to agree with Olivia as he followed her towards Isabell and Amelia. They saw Draco take a left turn and made sure he was far enough to not spot them. The three girls shortly followed him until he entered a dark-looking shop. It was called: Burgin and Burke’s.

‘I know this shop. I think it sells dark objects or cursed objects,’ Isabell whispered. ‘Dad told me about this.’

There was a wooden sign near the dark shop:

Confidential valuation service for unusual and ancient wizarding artefacts, such as may have been inherited by the best wizarding families.

Amelia spotted a ladder that led to the roof of the shop. She quickly climbed it, followed by Isabell, Olivia and Albert. They could see through a small circular window. Draco was standing in front of something, though the girls and Albert couldn’t entirely see what Draco was looking at. Amelia, Isabell, Olivia and Albert felt someone creep up behind them. They got out their wands and found out that they were pointing them directly at Harry, Hermione and Ron.

‘Hey,’ Amelia whispered as she tucked her wand back in her pocket.

‘What are you doing here?’ Harry asked.

‘We saw Draco walking around without his mother and decided to follow him. Well, Amelia decided to follow him,’ Isabell replied.

‘We also saw him,’ Ron spoke.

They all silently looked at Draco. They realised that his father, Lucius Malfoy, was already in the shop as he appeared from the window.

A middle aged man was standing in front of Draco and Mr. Malfoy.

‘Mr Malfoy, what a pleasure to see you again. Delighted — and young Master Malfoy, too— charmed. How may I be of assistance? I must show you, just in today, and very reasonably priced—’

‘Good afternoon, Mr. Borgin. We aren’t in need of anything. Draco, however, needs something very important for… ah, personal things,’ Mr. Malfoy said as he then walked to a corner, so that The three girls, Albert, Harry, Ron and Hermione couldn’t see him anymore.

Mr. Borgin, owner of the shop, nodded quickly as Draco started speaking.

‘Is this broken?’ he asked as he pointed at what he was facing.

‘No, young Master Malfoy, it is good and well.’

‘It has a twin in Hogwarts?’

‘Ah, yes,’ Mr. Borgin replied.

Amelia and Harry were leaning too close. They saw a shadow approaching the window and felt themselves being pulled by Isabell, who shushed them as she looked at the window. Fenrir Greyback appeared by the window, his uneven, yellow teeth bared. He was a vicious looking man with matted grey hair and little whiskers. Greyback had long yellowish nails, giving him the appearance of a beast. Greyback’s dull blue eyes scanned near the roof. Then, he moved away and Amelia and Harry started to lean forward to see better.

‘The Death Eaters will be using it,’ Mr. Malfoy stated.

Mr. Borgin looked shocked at the mention of “Death Eaters”.

‘I-I- Mr. Malfoy, I never registered for making the Dark Lord’s followers use one of my dark objects-’

Mr. Borgin stopped talking, for Draco had shown him something. He was extending his left arm, though everyone didn’t know why.

‘Apologies, I meant- O-of course they could,’ Mr. Borgin shuddered, his voice shaking.

‘Good, come on Fenrir and Draco, we need to get out of this place,’ Mr. Malfoy said as he pulled the shop door open and exited, his black cloak slithering behind him.

Draco and Fenrir, who was now chewing on a bone, followed. Fenrir gave the roof tiles a look then faced forward, still nibbling on the bone with his pointed yellow teeth.

‘I’ll go do something real quick,’ Isabell said as she climbed down the ladder.

‘Sure- hey! Don’t go in there!’ Olivia whisper-shouted as Isabell started to enter the shop.

Mr. Borgin saw Isabell enter and his eyes slowly narrowed.

‘What is a fine young lady doing in my shop, I wonder?’ Mr. Borgin said darkly.

‘Oh, I just saw my friend Draco enter the shop and he was interested in something. So I want to make sure that whatever he buys won’t be my present for his upcoming birthday,’ Isabell said sweetly.

Amelia smacked her hand on her head. Isabell started walking around the shop, examining each and every stand. There was a black hand, which started moving when Isabell went near it. Isabell then stopped at a necklace, its sage diamonds glimmering.

‘Is it what Draco wanted?’ Isabell questioned.

‘Get out of my shop.’

Isabell looked at Mr. Borgin.

‘What?’

‘Get out of my shop, young lady! Get out! Now!’

Isabell decided not to start a duel inside a dark artefacts shop and ran to the door and exited. Olivia, Amelia, Albert, Harry, Ron and Hermione had already gone down the ladder and joined up with Isabell.

‘That went well,’ Amelia said.

‘Yeah, great,’ Isabell replied, rolling her eyes.

‘We need to go,’ Ron said as Hermione and Harry nodded. ‘My mum and dad will get paranoid.’

‘Alright.’

They waved goodbye to them, but before they could even move, Isabell grabbed Amelia’s shirt. Amelia jerked her head around in surprise, whisper-shouting: ‘What was that for?’

Isabell looked serious, and the other three looked at her anxiously.

‘While we were in the shop, I saw a dark item, with your surname, Amelia. And I’m pretty sure I saw another dark item that belonged to the Dragonhearts,’ Isabell said, while looking back and forth at Amelia and Olivia.

‘What are the items?’ Olivia asked indifferently.

‘Pretty sure yours was a small, black dragon sculpture, and underneath it said that if you touch the arrow-shaped tip of the dragon, you get venom immediately going all over your body and you die a minute later. And as for Amelia’s heirloom, it seemed to be a glass necklace with round pendants, each with the blood of someone who had been killed by whichever Clearwater possessed that necklace. It was nasty, and whoever wore it will cause the round pendants to explode and the blood will cover them, consuming their flesh until there is no more flesh left.’

Isabell shuddered at the thought, so did Amelia, Olivia and Albert.

‘Guys, it’s really interesting and all, but we should go back before Mr. Bluesky comes, for all we know, he might already be back!’ Albert said worriedly.

They needn’t telling twice. They rushed to where Mr. Bluesky had told them to stay, panting heavily from all the sprinting. Mr. Bluesky still hadn’t returned, making the girls and Albert heave a sigh of relief as they leaned on the wall. After ten minutes or so, Mr. Bluesky appeared.

‘Well done for listening to me. I thought that you would run away,’ Mr. Bluesky said.

The three girls and Albert eyed each other. They followed Mr. Bluesky out of Diagon Alley and back into the car. Isabell sat in the front seat, leaving space for Amelia, Albert and Olivia at the back of the blue car. The car hovered and soon zoomed across the cloud-filled sky.
