Danger is at Hogwarts
Chapter 19
Amelia had a hunch of who would’ve poisoned him, but she didn’t say anything.
‘Should we go and see what happened?’ asked Isabell, looking nervously at Olivia and Amelia.
‘Of course we should!’ Olivia said as she changed into her uniform and Amelia was doing the same.
They ran to the Hospital Wing to find the only occupied bed, surrounded by three redheads, Hermione and Harry.
‘Heard what happened, is he alright?’ Isabell asked.
Hermione nodded; she was holding Ron’s hands and was crying quietly. Ginny, Fred and George were surrounding the poisoned Ron, who was fast asleep. The door burst open to reveal a blonde girl, her hair into two braids. She had brown eyes.
‘Where’s my Won-Won?’ the girl asked, running towards them.
‘He’s fine,’ said Hermione stiffly.
It was Lavender Brown, a girl in Gryffindor who was with them in Potions.
‘What is she doing here?’ Lavender asked, pointing a shaking finger at Hermione.
Hermione arched her brows.
‘I was supposed to be informed first because I’m his girlfriend!’ Lavender said, crossing her arms.
‘Well, I’m his… uhm- friend!’
‘Er…my…knee.’
Ron groaned.
Hermione smiled while Lavender looked devastated.
‘WON-WON! Come on! You've known me since October and now it’s December!’
‘Well, I’ve known Ron for six years,’ Hermione said through gritted teeth.
‘Er…my…knee.’
Lavender burst out crying and ran out of the Hospital Wing, then Professors Dumbledore, Snape, Mcgonagall and Slughorn entered. Dumbledore’s ancient face remained calm while Mcgonagall’s was pale.
‘Young love is always complicated,’ Dumbledore said, the familiar twinkle in his eye. ‘I’ve gone through it the most.’
He was looking at where Lavender had run away to. Snape had twitched for a second when Dumbledore stated his sentence. Dumbledore looked at him sympathetically then turned his focus to the poisoned Ron, still lying on the bed.
‘How was he poisoned?’ Mcgonagall asked Fred, looking at a sleeping Ron.
Harry began talking before Fred could open his mouth.
‘Ron had eaten chocolate which had a coincidental love potion in it. Then we went to Professor Slughorn to find the antidote. Professor Slughorn had a glass of meade with him that was sent by Madam Rosmerta (Professor Slughorn nodded) but it was poisoned… Ron was the first to drink it and got poisoned. I got a bezoar, put it in his mouth and made him swallow it. He started breathing steadily but was sweating and had a fever, so Professor Slughorn went and fetched you, Professor Mcgonagall, and you got him here.’
There was silence as everyone was grasping the information.
‘But why was it poisoned?’ Isabell asked, breaking the silence.
Nobody seemed to have the answer, but Amelia was now certain who did it. The last attempt was feeble and so was this one…
He’s done his second plan, and it failed. He did it without me.
Amelia shook her head then every one looked at her.
‘I-uh-um-don’t feel so good, I wanted to sleep but I heard the news and came here so… goodnight everyone. Tell Ron I gave him my wishes to get well soon…’
Amelia exited the Hospital Wing, breathing heavily. The first place she headed to was the Room of Requirement. She muttered a few words as she walked back and forth three times. The door revealed itself and Amelia entered quietly. She saw the shadowy figure in the distance and headed to its direction. Amelia entered.
This time, Draco didn’t argue with her. Instead, he was looking at the Vanishing Cabinet in anger.
‘Did you make Madam Rosmerta poison that meade?’ Amelia demanded.
Draco nodded without hesitation and didn’t look at her.
‘The Death Eaters keep sending me these things through the Vanishing Cabinet… but they won’t reach Dumbledore!’
‘You wanted Dumbledore to have that meade?’
Draco then jerked his head up and ran, searching for something. After a minute or two, he returned with a piece of parchment in his pale hand.
‘Let me see what you wrote,’ Amelia said as she snatched the parchment from his hands. It read:
Both of the plans didn’t work. I can’t think of any more. They don’t reach Dumbledore. Answer me as fast as possible.
-Draco Malfoy
Amelia nodded and gave it to Draco, who placed it inside the cabinet. He closed the cabinet. After a few minutes, there was a bang from the cabinet. Amelia ran forwards and opened it, revealing bits of ash.
‘What does that supposed to mean?’ Amelia asked angrily, who was hoping that the Death Eaters would give them a plan.
‘They don’t want to help…’ sighed Draco as he blew the ashes away. ‘They’re afraid of the Dark L-’
Suddenly, fiery writing appeared in front of them. Whoever was at Burgin and Burkes heard them. The writing said:
We will help when the time comes.
