The Christmas Plan
Chapter 15
Olivia, Albert and Isabell were ready for their great plan.
Isabell was wearing a blue dress with an off-shoulder bodice and a mini-sarong skirt. Her hair was loose and had blue highlights that matched the colour of her dress.
Olivia on the other hand, wore a gradient teal dress that had an illusion bodice, mermaid skirt and slit sleeves. Her hair was made into a high messy bun.
Albert was wearing a forest green suit with a red tie that had golden horizontal stripes. His hair was as messy as ever, but cooler than they had ever seen. Olivia and Albert walked ahead together while Isabell followed them, stroking her hair to make it as smooth as possible. They reached Slughorn’s large office. When they entered it, it was so big that they thought it wasn’t even an office.
They were greeted by a familiar loud voice.
‘Welcome, welcome! How glad am I to have you here!’ Professor Slughorn boomed.
He was wearing a red, shimmering cloak and a matching wizard hat which had a white fluffy ball at the top, making it look similar to Father Christmas’ hat. Isabell and Olivia saw Amelia, making them slightly shocked. She seemed to be arguing with someone invisible, but she looked very angry. They heard something.
‘..why are you talking to me?’ Amelia was whispering angrily.
‘I thought she wouldn’t come?’ Isabell asked. ‘Isn’t this going to affect our mission?’
Olivia looked at Isabell nervously as she walked away with Albert to greet people.
Amelia was wearing a silver dress with an asymmetrical bodice, mini skirt that was an inch above her knees and one bishop sleeve on her right arm. Her hair was as straight and short as ever.
‘Hello Isabell, where’s Olivia and Albert?’
‘They went over there to greet people,’ Isabell said hesitantly as she pointed in a random direction.
‘Ok…’ said Amelia suspiciously.
Suddenly, Olivia and Albert were dragged by their arms, They were facing Professor Snape. His eyes more dull than before, his hair greasier than ever. He remained in his regular black cloak.
‘Severus! Did you know that these two young potioneers are experts! I think they are better than you!’
Professor Slughorn was pointing at Albert and Olivia, who looked very uncomfortable.
‘Like daughter like mother,’ he said as his lips curled.
Olivia looked as though she had been shot. She looked at Snape in shock.
I never heard Snape mention my parents…
Snape smirked then became expressionless, though his eyes kept glancing at Amelia. His actions made him seem as though he was fearful. Amelia, Isabell, Olivia and Albert were dragged once again by the arms and were now facing a tall, pale man who had red eyes and black hair.
‘Girls and young man, meet my friend Serpentine Vandiousha. I think you know that he is a vampire! He is a Russian vampire.’
They gaped at the man. Isabell stepped back.
‘Delicious… Brown hair’s my favourite,’ said Serpentine in a raspy voice as he walked closer to Isabell.
Isabell looked shocked and disgusted as she stepped back even more.
‘Now, now, Serpentine. We came here to meet Horace, not eat children with brown hair!’ chuckled a stout man who was standing next to Professor Slughorn.
‘Oh! And I have forgotten to introduce you to my other friend, Malek Revirio! He is also a vampire, an Egyptian vampire! He came here because I wanted to hear all about his voyage in which he journeyed with Serpentine!’
Malek, who had greying black hair and bright green eyes, waved at them then looked at Serpentine, and his kind face changed to a serious, mad one.
Serpentine was approaching unsuspecting girls with light and dark brown hair, his mouth watering.
‘Serpentine! Do not try to eat children with brown hair!’ Malek growled as Serpentine stepped back, looking disappointed. ‘Sorry, he just can’t resist brown hair. I have always wondered why!’
‘Not to worry, Malek!’ chuckled Professor Slughorn.
They began discussing things about the Ministry of Magic and Olivia, Isabell and Albert walked away and began talking to other guests.
‘This boy was sneaking into this party!’ growled a voice.
The music stopped. Filch the caretaker was holding Draco by his messy hair.
‘Alright, alright! I was trying to gatecrash, happy now?’ Draco hissed, trying to push Filch’s hand away.
‘No I am not! Didn’t Professor Dumbledore tell you not to sneak at night or alone again?’ Filch yelled as his cat, Ms. Norris, purred and looked at Draco with her red eyes.
Snape made a sudden movement and faced Filch. He looked paler than before.
‘I’ll punish Draco. Hand him to me.’
Filch nodded and pushed Draco towards Snape.
‘I’ll come too,’ Amelia said. ‘I think I forgot to do my homework.’
Snape and Draco looked at her. Olivia and Isabell looked suspiciously at her. Snape nodded swiftly then they walked out of the office, Amelia following them. Draco looked deadly, while Amelia looked relieved.
‘You-you-’ began Draco.
‘What happened with you telling me to help you?’
‘That was-’
‘Enough. Both of you!’ Snape said darkly as he pinned Draco to the wall.
Amelia gaped at her teacher, then at her friend.
‘It was foolish of you to break in like that! You could have gotten into trouble Draco!’
‘Why do you care?’
‘I had to do the Unbreakable Vow with your mother! I promised Narcissa that I would protect you and help you! Do you know what happens when the Vow is broken? I would-’
‘I know and I don’t care! I don’t want your help or protection! Amelia’s helping and that’s enough!’
Snape looked at Amelia, then looked at Draco, his hooked long nose almost touching Draco’s.
‘What were you planning to do? I can help you Draco…’ said Snape.
‘So that you can take all the credit and glory? I don’t think so!’
‘Draco!’ Amelia said as she stared at him.
Snape and Draco looked at her.
‘If you don’t tell him, then I will! Professor Snape will be helpful-’
‘You’re on his side? He will take all the credit so that he will be favoured by the Dark Lord!’
Draco looked at Snape.
‘Muffliato.’
He then pinned Amelia to the wall. They were closer than ever. Amelia could feel Draco’s frost breath on her face.
‘I warned you, Amelia. If you don’t keep what’s happening a secret, he will kill us both. And if he doesn’t, I’ll do it myself without any hesitation.’
Amelia nodded quickly, and Draco let go of her. She then looked angry.
‘You won’t be able to do it alone, you-’ but before she could complete her sentence, Snape made Draco’s wand fly from his hand, making the spell break.
‘Detention Malfoy! Remember that I’m still your teacher and have the authority to give you detention! Go!’
Draco stormed away, leaving Snape and Amelia alone.
‘Ms. Clearwater, remember that Draco Malfoy is forced to do the mission, please help him, off you go.’
As she walked away, Amelia felt surprised because she had never heard Snape be even a little bit kind. She went back to Slughorn’s office.
‘Are you done with your homework?’ a voice asked as soon as she entered.
It was Olivia, who looked angry and suspicious.
‘Homework? What homework?’ said Amelia blankly. ‘Oh… The homework... yeah… It turns out- I- er- finished it already... and uh- erm- didn’t... have to do it!’
‘Finished it… sure…’
Olivia glared at Amelia, who was sweating and looked slightly pale.
‘We know you ran off to meet Draco,’ Olivia said darkly.
Amelia looked at Isabell. She then laughed nervously and scratched her head. She looked at Albert next, who was standing anxiously next to Olivia. Olivia had messy hair that slightly stuck out.
‘What happened to your hair?’ asked Amelia, trying to change the subject.
‘Oh, my hair? That young man makes Grawp look like a kind, perfect little gentleman!’
Amelia looked confused.
‘You know. Grawp the giant that Hagrid made us skip a Quidditch match to see? In our fifth year? He told us to teach him how to tie his shoes!’
‘Yeah, I remember, but who’s the young man?’ Amelia asked.
‘A Gryffindor guy in the seventh year named Cormac Mclaggen. He doesn’t use tissues and licks! HE LICKS!’
Olivia shuddered.
‘Him? Ron told me he was the most annoying person he had ever met!’ said Isabell, turning to look at Olivia.
‘He is! I talked to him while Albert was in the bathroom (Albert looked at Olivia in surprise) and all he wanted to talk about was how many goals he scored in a quidditch match!’
‘So, ok, all this is good and all but I need to leave, the party’s almost over!’ Amelia yelled as she opened the door of the office.
‘Goodbye, my dear! See you tomorrow in potions!’ Professor Slughorn said as he waved at her and she waved back.
Isabell and Albert looked at Olivia, who nodded stiffly.
