Another Quidditch Match
Chapter 10
It was announced that a match between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff would take place on the first of November. October soon started to end as November came by. The weather was more cold and windy by the day. Finally, the day of the match came. Excited chattering was filled in the Great Hall since both of the houses had new people on their team. Isabell looked pale, while Amelia looked worried.
‘I’m resigning, Amelia,’ said Isabell.
‘What? No!’
‘I c-can’t.’
‘Isabell, do you really want to ruin the lives of your fellow Ravenclaw friends? I don’t think so. So don’t resign and do your best. And anyways, why were you chosen to be in the team?’ Olivia suddenly said as she shut a book.
Amelia saw two people pass by swiftly; a brown-haired boy and a platinum blonde hair boy.
‘Olivia, you’re Seeker.’
‘What? Wait, where are you-’
But Amelia was already gone.
‘Madame Hooch!’ Olivia yelled to Madame Hooch nervously.
‘What is it? The match will begin in ten minutes!’
‘Amelia is skipping the match and she told me that I’ll be Seeker-’
‘WHAT? Go dress up immediately. Do you know why she skipped the match?’
Olivia shook her head. Though she had a hunch. Madame Hooch sighed and told Olivia to go change. Olivia met Isabell in the Changing room. Isabell was paler than ever. Olivia changed quickly into the clothes Amelia threw her and stood there awkwardly.
‘Where is the Captain?’ said one of the Beaters.
‘She had to skip the match and she told me I’ll be in charge…’
‘No, she didn’t,’ said Isabell. ‘She said you’ll be the seeker not the captain!’
Everyone looked at her.
‘Right, we have a match to win. And let’s hope we finish it quickly or I’ll fall from my broom again,’ muttered Olivia.
Everyone followed her nervously to the pitch. There was intense cheering and booing.
‘Today, it’s Ravenclaw versus Hufflepuff,’ Albert said. ‘Though the Team Captain for Ravenclaw skipped the match for unknown reasons.’
Booing was heard from Ravenclaw.
‘But Clearwater is replaced temporarily by Olivia Dragonheart!’ they heard Albert say.
‘For Ravenclaw we have: Bones - Almond - Smith - Corner - Bluesky - Skywalker and finally, Dragonheart! For Hufflepuff we have: Jason - Winterfall - Another Smith - Cadwallader - Macavoy - Prins and finally, Summerby!’
The cheering and booing continued as the teams hovered in the sky.
‘Captains, shake hands. Olivia, you can do the shaking for now.’
Olivia and the Hufflepuff Team captain, who was a boy who looked like seventeen shook hands. He was squeezing Olivia’s hands, trying to break them. Olivia tried not to wince and glared at him.
‘Let the match begin!’ Albert yelled suddenly.
The Quaffle, bludgers and Golden Snitch were freed from the trunk.
‘First, Smith from Ravenclaw catches the Quaffle. She passes it to Bluesky. Bluesky dodges the bludger hit by Winterfall. She is getting nearer to the hoops. Will she get it? AND BLUESKY SCORES! Ten to zero for Ravenclaw!’
Cheers from the people of Ravenclaw (and a few people from Gryffindor) cheered for Isabell. Olivia nodded as she tried to look for the Golden Snitch. She saw it was behind the Hufflepuff Seeker, Summerby. She rushed to his direction. The other Seeker looked confused and then realised why she was coming. He looked around just in time to see the Snitch zoom away.
‘It looks like the Seekers have found the Snitch! But who will get the one hundred and fifty points?’ Albert spoke over the intense cheering and booing.
A boy in Ravenclaw was so hyped he literally took off his cloak and almost took off his clothes when Flitwick stopped him.
Olivia and Summerby were neck to neck, trying to reach for the Snitch. Summerby pinned her to the wall of the Gryffindor stand. Olivia yelled as she tumbled to the floor.
‘Looks like Summerby made Dragonheart fall! But will she continue?’ Albert said nervously through the speakers.
Hearing Albert’s voice so desperately, Olivia tried to get up. Her arm was badly scratched. She got on her broom and continued flying as people cheered for her.
‘Corner passes it to Smith. Smith dodges the bludger hit by Jason! Almond does an amazing job at hitting the bludger back! Smith passes it to Corner. Corner passes it back. And… Macavoy catched it! Bluesky is approaching him quickly. She takes the Quaffle from him! Will Bluesky score once again? BLUESKY SCORES AGAIN! SHE DOES IT! Twenty to zero for Ravenclaw!’
Summerby was two inches away from catching the Snitch. Olivia hurried after him.
‘Not much of a gentleman, are you?’ she growled as she kicked him hard on his stomach.
He yelled in surprise and fell on the floor.
‘Dragonheart kicks Summerby! It’s not a penalty though, Summerby gets up and catches up with Dragonheart!’
Once again, they were neck to neck.
‘Smith from Ravenclaw passes it to Corner. Corner passes it to Bluesky. Bluesky passes it back. Corner passes it to Smith. And… SMITH SCORES! Thirty to zero for Ravenclaw!’
Everyone continued to cheer and boo.
‘Cadwallader has the Quaffle! He passes it to Prins. Prins passes it back. AND CADWALLADER SCORES! Thirty to ten!’
The match went one until they finally tied.
‘It’s fifty to fifty! Both teams are depending on their Seeker!’
Summerby and Olivia were chasing after the Snitch. Olivia stood on her broom. She tried to step forward but tumbled down. She was very high from the ground. She fell, almost breaking her back.
‘DRAGONHEART FALLS HARD ON THE GROUND! WILL SHE BE ABLE TO CONTINUE?’
Olivia was groaning as Madame Hooch helped her get up. Her hands were made into fists.
‘She is alright! But wait, there is something in her hand. IT’S THE GOLDEN SNITCH! A HUNDRED AND FIFTY POINTS ARE GIVEN TO RAVENCLAW!’
Intense cheers from Ravenclaw erupted.
‘Ravenclaw wins with two hundred points!’ Albert yelled through all the cheering and booing.
The Ravenclaw team were punching the air happily.
‘Amelia certainly has chosen the best people, don’t you think, Isabell?’ Olivia laughed as she massaged her back.
Isabell laughed as she helped her to the changing rooms. They changed quickly and headed towards the school Gate.
‘Are you alright?’ Albert asked as they headed inside the school.
Olivia nodded as they went up to the fifth floor.
