(Mattheo’s pov) 

Weeks passed and people kept dying. The days seemed to drag by with no classes. There had never been this many students that were killed in one month let alone a whole school year. The headmaster decided that any student who wanted to go home could go home. Classes were all canceled anyway. They didn’t know when the killings would stop, I was surprised they didn’t close the school. 

Having classes canceled didn’t stop Y/n from learning though. Thomas taught her spells and potions and she read about everything else. I started to feel like an outsider in our little brothers and sister group. Sure I had my friends but they weren't the same as Thomas and Y/n. I didn’t have much to say. 

(Thomas’s pov) 

As the weeks passed I taught Y/n spells and potions, she was good at everything. I noticed Mattheo seemed to be quieter lately. He distanced himself from us as much as possible. One night he stumbled into the common room, almost tripping down the stairs then went to the couch and fell onto it. It was almost as if he was drunk, I wouldn’t be surprised. I called Y/n over and we brought him up to our dorm and placed him on his bed. She crossed her arms, one of which now had a scar from when she cut herself. She could have gotten it healed better so there wouldn’t have been a scar but she said she wanted a scar, she liked scars for some odd reason. 

Her face changed and she looked a little sick “I’m going to take a walk” She declared then turned for the door.

“Wait, I will come with you” I insisted she just nodded her head slightly and I followed her out of the dorm, I closed the door behind me. We made our way down the staircase and out of the common room. “Are you ok” I asked 

“I’m fine, I just need air, can we go to the astronomy tower?”

“Sure” She walked by my side all the way to the tower then up the stairs. It opened to the roof and the expansive night sky above us was filled with stars and the moon, almost a full moon. I was chiller up here and Y/n crossed her arms and held them close to her chest. I guessed she was cold so I took off my jacket and put it on her shoulders, she smiled up at me. 

“You know I find it hard that you don’t have a girlfriend” She commented. 

I smiled slightly “I don’t just treat everyone like this, your my sister” 

She looked away and she blinked a couple of times and her face changed to the way it was back in the dorm, her nose started bleeding and she closed her eyes and fell. I caught her before she could hit the ground. I heard a noise and a second later the masked man appeared, chuckling softly. 

“Did you do this?” I asked

“No, she did it to herself, it’s funny though” 

“What do you mean?”

“She has been doing magic from books in the restricted section, you didn’t know?”

I took in this information, she usually went to the library with Olivia and met Indu there as well, I know Indu wouldn’t let that happen so she must have either been lying or going at another time and not telling me “How do you know this?” I asked

“I have eyes and ears everywhere” They answered 

“What kind of magic, and why?”

“Dark magic, what else do you expect, she’s a Riddle, you're a Riddle. The son and daughter of the Dark Lord”

“She would never do dark magic” I declared 

They shrugged their shoulders “You never truly know someone, do you?” Then they disappeared.
