Ravenclaw Vs Slytherin
Chapter 10
Ravenclaw Vs Slytherin
It was the upcoming match that everyone in Hogwarts had been waiting for.
Eagle versus Snake. Slytherin, as usual, were trying to hex Ravenclaws that were in the Quidditch team in corridors (when teachers, especially Professors Flitwick and Mcgonagall, weren’t in their presence). Umbridge was strutting around, with her wand held tightly in her hand, and ordering students to tuck their shirts in or straighten their ties. More people were getting detention every day, even if they put one toe out of line or did the simplistest things that couldn’t hurt anyone, such as talking loudly in the corridor. Argus Filch, the caretaker, liked the way Umbridge was handling things, and he said every student deserved to be punished.
‘Well, if I made a list of caretakers who deserve to be punished, I would make Filch the first one in line!’ Isabell shouted angrily as they headed to the grounds.
‘Fifteen points from Ravenclaw.’
They looked around and saw Draco, with Crabbe and Goyle at his side, smirking.
Isabell growled as Amelia drew her wand at them.
‘Well, how about thirty points from Slytherin, fifteen points from Crabbe and fifteen points from Goyle? First, Goyle doesn’t have his shirt tucked in and he meddled around in Transfiguration but Mcgonagall didn't have time to deduct points. And then for Crabbe, well, he is the bigger version of a crab, like the name truly says and he did the same thing as his fellow gorilla buddy did,’ Albert said, stepping next to Amelia, Isabell and Olivia. ‘You’re not the only prefect who can deduct points, you know.’
Draco glared at Albert with pure loath.
‘Fifty points from-’
‘Enough!’ Mcgonagall appeared, sounding extremely angry.
It seemed the results of her inspection had come out.
‘Your position as prefects is to aid first-year students and only deduct points if a student has broken the school rules!’ Professor Mcgonagall roared, her nostrils flaring like they did when her temper had gone up to its limits.
‘Twenty points each from Ravenclaw, and the same from Slytherin, so eight points from both!’
Draco walked away, though hurriedly, while Crabbe and Goyle followed him. Professor Mcgonagall paraded off, her anger still attached to her body.
‘The results of the inspection must’ve been horrible,’ Amelia said, apparently ignoring the fact that they had just lost eighty points from Ravenclaw.
‘It’s not that, or maybe it is. But the main reason is that the Ministry is trying to kick Dumbledore out of his job,’ Olivia said. ‘I wanted to go to his office yesterday but the door was locked and I heard his conversation with some Ministry blokes.’
‘Why did you want to go to his office yesterday?’ Isabell said, her eyebrows raised.
‘That isn’t the important thing!’ Olivia snapped. ‘The important thing is who would replace Dumbledore if the Ministry overpowers him!’
Amelia, Isabell and Albert glanced at each other.
‘Umbridge. Eas- wait I was kidding! What if Umbridge actually replaces Dumbledore and becomes headmistress!’
‘I’m not allowing that!’ Amelia suddenly said. ‘Isn’t it enough that she’s High Inquisitor? Isn’t it enough that she gives us countless detentions? Isn’t it enough that the Ministry is interfering with our school? Isn’t-’
‘Isn’t enough that we have other things on our mind, such as your Quidditch match?’ Isabell said, before Amelia could continue.
Amelia gave them a big gasp as she rushed away quickly, up to the Ravenclaw Common Room to get her broom.
They went to the grounds and saw that many seats were already taken. Roger Davies spotted them and gestured for them to come.
‘Where’s Amelia? She’s not skipping the match, is she-?’
‘No, no. She went to get her broom.’
‘Right, well anyway, wish us luck.’
The girls and Albert nodded as they headed back to their seats and sat down. It was extremely cold, people were wearing thick coats and jackets that reached up to their knees or just below their hips.
‘Wait, aren’t you the commentator?’ Isabell asked Albert, her eyebrows raised.
Albert didn’t even reply, he just rushed to the commentator box and sat down. They saw Professor Mcgonagall yelling at him, probably to ask why he was late. Olivia and Isabell saw Amelia in her blue Quidditch robes and her broom. She looked at Isabell and Olivia, who cheered for her when she appeared into the Quidditch pitch. Amelia sat on her broom and hovered a few feet up, so that she was directly in front of Isabell and Olivia.
‘Welcome, students of Hogwarts! Today, it’s Ravenclaw versus Slytherin! But who will win?’
The cheering and booing emerged across the pitch, with Slytherin cheering for their team and Ravenclaw, along with some Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs, encouraging their team.
‘For the Slytherin team, we have: Vaisey- Urquart- Shade- Stewart- Crabbe- Goyle, and lastly, Harper! Looks like the team captain, Montague, isn’t playing today, nor is Slytherin’s seeker, Draco Malfoy!’
‘Why did Draco miss the Quidditch match?’ Isabell yelled to Olivia.
‘I don’t know!’ Olivia yelled back over the shouts and cheering.
The cheering and booing continued after Albert finished.
‘Now, for the Ravenclaw team, we have: Davies - Chang - Boot - Egwu - Doyle- Chambers, and lastly, Clearwater!’
‘Albert sure does set the mood!’ Isabell said.
All of the fourteen players hovered across the dull winter sky, each ready to win for their team. Madam Hooch, with yellow eyes and short spiky grey hair, marched towards a light brown leather trunk, where the balls for Quidditch were kept. Madam Hooch opened the trunk, and sooner or later, the balls escaped from the trunk, ready to be played with. The Quaffle was immediately caught by Robbie Egwu, a Ravenclaw chaser. One of the bludgers zoomed towards Amelia, but Terry Boot hit it hard with his black club, so that it flew away to a Slytherin chaser instead. The Golden Snitch’s little wings that resembled a hummingbird’s (because of how fast they flapped) started fluttering, and it started running around the pitch, so that Amelia and Slytherin’s chaser, Harper, couldn’t yet get a look at where it was.
‘And Egwu grabs the Quaffle, passes it to Chambers. Two of the Slytherin chasers and cornering him- and Chamber does an astounding trick! Ouch, I hope those Slytherin’s bumps on their heads don’t hurt too much!’ Albert yelled over the intense encouragement and howling.
Chambers had zoomed up with mighty speed, so that the Slytherins cornering him bumped into each other and fell.
‘Chambers is approaching the Slytherin hoops-! And Stewart takes the Quaffle from him! Stewart dodges Egwu, he is quickly approaching the Ravenclaw hoops- AND DAVIES BLOCKS THE QUAFFLE!’
Ravenclaw cheered when Roger blocked the Quaffle with the end of his broom. Cho Chang was crying, so that she was zig-zagging everywhere.
‘Cho! Focus!’ Roger yelled at her.
Cho was still weeping on her broom. Madam Hooch blew her whistle and everyone stopped and came down from their brooms. She gestured to Cho to come to her and sent her to the hospital wing. Madam Hooch then flew up to the spectators and asked Isabell to replace Cho.
‘Me? B-but-’ Isabell began.
But Madam Hooch was already dragging Isabell by her arms and leading her to the Grounds. Olivia gave her a nervous thumbs-up as the match went on. Amelia was searching for the snitch as Isabell trembled on her broom and her beater’s black bat. Amelia finally saw it: a golden ball hovering in the middle of the pitch. Amelia zoomed towards it, followed by Harper, who also caught a glimpse of the snitch.
‘The Seekers have seen the snitch! But who will grab it first and win for their house one hundred and fifty points?’ Albert yelled.
One of the Slytherin Beaters hit a Bludger towards Amelia. Amelia tried to run away from it, but it was quickly closing in, aiming for her leg-
A figure appeared behind her and smacked the Bludger hard, so that Amelia was free to worry about catching the Golden Snitch.
‘And Bluesky saves Ravenclaw’s Seeker from the Bludger!’
Amelia smiled to herself then zoomed towards the snitch. She was so fast that she seemed to be a blur to everyone watching her. Harper caught up with her shortly. They were neck to neck. Harper tried to reach for the snitch, and Amelia saw her chance. She pushed her broom towards Harper, so that he hit the Gryffindor stand and tumbled down. Amelia stood on her broom, almost falling. She looked at the snitch in front of her, buzzing away with its golden wings. Amelia jumped off her broom. She did a flip and seconds later, she landed on her broom again, one of her hands made into a firm fist.
‘Clearwater does an amazing trick- AND CLEARWATER CAUGHT THE SNITCH! ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY POINTS ARE GIVEN TO RAVENCLAW!’
Ravenclaw cheered with all its might. A loud squawk echoed through the pitch. A girl in the Ravenclaw stand, with dirty blonde hair, was wearing an eagle head on her, which emitted loud eagle squawks.
‘I present to you our winner, Ravenclaw, with two hundred and ten points to eighty!’
The Ravenclaw team beamed proudly at the Ravenclaw stand, who were cheering deeply for them.
‘Amelia, you never disappoint the Ravenclaw team!’ Roger said happily, high-fiving Amelia.
Amelia smiled in pride. Isabell flew next to her.
‘Thanks, if it weren’t for you, I would be in the Hospital Wing by now,’ Amelia said, smiling at Isabell.
‘Great, now that we finished… can we eat?’ Isabell said, groaning.
Amelia laughed as she went down to the ground and got off her broom, Isabell doing the same. Amelia was still holding the snitch. Her grip on it loosened, and the snitch broke free, its golden wings shining and glittering as Madam Hooch caught it and planted it back in the leather trunk.
