King's Cross Station

Chapter 8

Olivia walked with Hagrid, who looked worn out.

‘Why are you tired?’

‘Eh? Oh… I was jus’ talkin’ ter someone, that Muggle guy,’ grunted Hagrid. ‘By the way, do yeh know Harry Potter?’

As Olivia shook her head, Hagrid’s hairy eyebrows rose through the flock of frizzy hair almost covering them. Yet he understood why she wouldn’t have a clue as to whom Harry Potter was or if he even existed.

‘Well, o’ course yeh wouldn’t know him, yeh lived with Muggles. I suppose I must tell yeh about him. He’s kinda like yeh, a halfblood, his parents were murdered by You-Know-Who,’ he said.

‘Oh…’

‘Just sad,’ he sighed softly, then suddenly howled and cried.

Olivia patted his elbow because that’s all she could reach.

‘Hagrid… Can I ask you a bit of an annoying question?’

‘Sure,’ grunted Hagrid, rubbing his eyes with his enormous hands.

‘Who’s You-Know-Who?’

‘Oh, that’s the person who murdered Harry’s parents.’

‘I know but… who is he, and what’s his real name?’

‘Oh, dear, I don’t wanna get into this but… I mean, yeh have got to know. He’s the mos’ powerful, evil sorcerer that has ever lived,’ Hagrid replied, shuddering. ‘Most o’ us are scared ter even say his name, that’s why we call him You-Know-ooo…’

‘Can you tell me his real name?’

‘Alrigh’… I’ll say it once but please don’ make me say it again,’ mumbled Hagrid, lowering his voice with every word he said.

‘Ok.’

‘V-V-V-Voldemort. There, I said it and don’t ever make me say it again.

‘Sure… But why are people scared to say his name? Is it because he’s so powerful and evil?’

‘Nah, It’s ‘cause o’ all the murders he’s committed.’

‘Is he still at large?’ questioned Olivia.

‘No.’

‘What happened to him?’

‘The thing is, nobody knows, he tried ter kill Harry Potter but he couldn’ fer some crazy reason.’

‘Right.’

‘Well, anyways, here we are.’

‘I don’t see a Hogwarts Express, I think this is King’s Cross Station-’ but as Olivia looked at the spot where Hagrid was moments ago, he wasn’t there. So, she continued walking. Olivia looked at her ticket and it said: Platform 9 and ¾. She stared at platforms 9 and 10 but there was no platform 9 and ¾. She twisted her head, but still no Platform 9 and ¾. She looked at it from an angle, but still no Platform 9 and ¾. Olivia then saw a child run, then disappear between the two platforms. Was it real? Or were her eyes not working well? She saw a girl with silky short blonde hair and with light blue eyes, holding a white owl. Do people normally walk around holding owls? Her eyes really had a problem today. Olivia cautiously approached her.

‘Excuse me, but do you know where platform 9 and ¾ is?’

‘Um… yes, it's right through there,’ the girl replied, pointing a shaking finger at the empty wall between platforms 9 and 10.

‘Are you sure?’

‘Yeah… I could show you how to pass through? I mean, I don’t know myself but I suppose we could try it together. I’m Amelia, by the way, Amelia Clearwater.’

‘Yes, please! And… I’m Olivia Dragonheart,’ Olivia said.

‘Woah, Bellatrix Lestrange- uhm- murdered your parents… she’s one of You-Know-Who’s followers… Anyways, welcome to the wizarding world.’

'Thanks!’ Olivia grinned.
