The House Cup

Chapter 71

The next morning, all the Ravenclaw first-years (Including the girls and Albert) woke up to find the teachers waiting for them in the Great Hall. It was unusual. They started eating breakfast until Professor Dumbledore was standing, waiting for everyone to be settled down. The Great Hall was decorated in green with serpents on the posters.

‘Hello students! You have done amazing through this very tough year, now I would like to announce who gets the House Cup,’ he said as he pointed at a great trophy.

‘Slytherin,’ whispered Ron to Harry and Hermione.

They both groaned.

‘We have Gryffindor with 857 points (cheers from Gryffindor) and we have Hufflepuff who have received 811 points (cheers from the Hufflepuff table). In Ravenclaw we have 890 points (cheers from Ravenclaw) and finally Slytherin with 1130 points (great cheering from Slytherin)’

‘So... Slytherin wins with 1130 points!’

Great cheering from Slytherin erupted in the Great Hall, while Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff weren’t so happy of Slytherin’s victory.

‘But… (The hall went silent) There are last minute points to be awarded: Amelia Clearwater, who has shown bravery and unselfishness will be awarded 80 points.’

Amelia stared at Dumbledore as the Ravenclaw Table cheered her on.

‘Isabell Bluesky, who has shown kindness and learning from mistakes throughout the year, I will award her 80 points as well.’

‘Now we are 1050 points!

‘And of course, Olivia Dragonheart, for showing bravery, and protection to her friends, I shall also award her 80 points.’

‘WE ARE TIED!’ Isabell yelled.

‘And, last but not least, Albert, who has defeated the squid that was causing the disappearances, I will award him 100 points.’

‘Wh-what?’ Albert said, unconvinced, that he had received 100 points in the last minute and made Ravenclaw win.

‘ALBERT!’ Olivia, Isabell and Amelia yelled as they high-fived him.

‘And so we have new winners! Ravenclaw with 1230 points!’

Dumbledore swished his wand and the posters changed from green with serpents to blue and eagles flying about.

‘WE WON? WE WON!’ some Ravenclaw students yelled.

‘The cup is ours! The two cups are ours! Quidditch and the House cup!’ screamed Amelia.

‘I KNOW, I KNOW!’ Isabell and Olivia both shouted.

‘And I shall see you next year! Have a lovely holiday everyone!’

‘No… I don’t want to spend a whole three months with my super-cruel-horrible-stepmother!’ Amelia said, groaning. ‘You don’t know her when she’s happy that my father’s in Azkaban!’

‘I know what to do,’ Isabell said as she headed to the Owlery (The place where all the owls were kept).

‘Where is she going? We are supposed to go that way-’

‘Phew! I’m back, just had to send a letter to my parents…’ Isabell said as she approached them a few minutes later.

‘Ok, now let’s go, I don’t know how my uncle and aunt are going to pick me up…’

‘AMELIA!’ someone yelled in a sing-song voice.

‘Huh?’

Someone just has a habit of yelling your name without saying who they are,’ laughed Isabell.

They noticed that a boy was calling another girl named Amelia. They all laughed and headed to the Hogwarts express.

‘What did you send to your parents? Not trying to be ‘nosy’,’ laughed Olivia as they were sitting in the train.

‘It’s a surprise,’ Isabell grinned. ‘Oh! Mocha! Did you get a letter from them? Perfect,’ Isabell said as Mocha nibbled her fingers affectionately.

‘They said yes…’

‘Said yes to wha-?’

‘It’s a surprise…’ Isabell said brightly.

They spent the next few hours talking about what they might take next year and if they would win the two cups again.

‘I hope we do,’ said Albert, who was sitting with them.

Bianca and Mocha seemed to be communicating, while Twilight lay on Olivia’s lap, purring slightly. (Albert’s pet, also a cat whom he named Charm, had golden fur, and it was staring at the owls in curiosity.)

‘I just asked the driver and he said we’re almost there!’ said Hermione, coming into their compartment and sitting down.

‘Really?’ asked Amelia. ‘It usually takes a long time! Half of the day!’

‘You only went once apart from this time,’ said Isabell, raising her eyebrows. ‘It did take half of the day last time.’

‘Oh, no. I went with my dad here before to ‘check’ on the train. It took 12 hours! We sat there the whole time doing nothing!’ Amelia said, grinning.

After she said this, everyone stayed silent. Then, for some reason everyone burst into laughter five minutes later.

‘How can you do nothing for twelve hours?’ Olivia laughed.

‘I dunno h myself… my father was trying to force me to talk with him about You-Know-Who,’ said Amelia, grinning. ‘I just looked out the window and ignored him.’

Everyone continued to laugh and chat as Harry and Ron joined them.
