Seeing the Past, Present and Future
Chapter 61
Olivia was dreaming of the Valentine’s Ball and how much she had fun with Albert, Amelia and Isabell. But then suddenly, everything blacked out in her mind. Then, a scene started forming slowly. She was seeing a quiet street with no cars driving. It seemed to be the middle of the night. She saw two shadowy figures carrying what seemed to be a basket. There was soft cooing.
‘Are you sure that this is the right thing to do?’ said the taller of the two.
He was a man, and his voice was a little unsteady.
‘Yes, darling. I’m sure of it. It’s the only way she will learn.’
The stiff voice belonged to the shorter of the two, who was a woman. They dropped the basket in the middle of the road. They held hands and suddenly vanished in a second. There were crying noises. Olivia then saw what was in the basket: a baby. But not just any baby, it was her. She noticed the same emerald green eyes and the slightly visible black hair. She then recognized the house that the younger version of her was thrown next to. It was her aunt's and uncle’s house. It seemed new as it wasn’t so dusty. The door of the house creaked open. A woman with light brown hair and similar brown eyes came out of the house. She was wearing a flowery pink dress. She walked closer to the basket and crouched down to see what was inside. She slowly got up and took the basket with her to the house. The two shadowy figures appeared again out of nowhere. They were hiding behind a bush.
‘Those mudbloods took her!’ said the man. ‘I told you it was the wrong place to leave her!’
‘Relax, darling. I would refer to her as a mudblood as well.’
They continued to look at the house and then held hands again. They vanished.
The scene dissolved as a new one formed. It was the Girls’ Dormitory. More specifically, Olivia, Amelia and Isabell’s room. They were all sleeping silently. But then she noticed that Isabell’s bed was empty all of a sudden. She felt shocked, no one could apparate at Hogwarts, could they? But she heard noises and saw green-brown eyes glow in the shadows. Isabell was wearing a strange cloak. Olivia could only see her head poking out and her feet. She realised that it was an invisibility cloak. But invisibility cloaks were only a legend…
It could have been made of snake skin, Olivia thought.
She had read in a book that snake skin made the wearer invisible. But it was very rare and very expensive-
Isabell had disappeared and it was just Amelia and Olivia in the room. Things seemed to speed up, Olivia thought as she (in her dream) and Amelia were twisting very quickly. Then after a few minutes, Isabell returned. She seemed scared and put the cloak under her bed. She hopped on her bed and pretended to be asleep. Right after Isabell had jumped on her bed, Amelia got up. She was sweating and panting slightly. She then exited the room. After a few minutes, she was back in the room and collapsed on her bed. Things sped up again. Amelia woke up suddenly. She was crying. Olivia realised that she and Isabell weren’t in the room anymore.
The scene dissolved once again as a new one formed slowly. It was Olivia, but she looked much older, about six years older at least. She had battle scars and her hair reached her elbows. She didn’t have curtain bangs anymore. Instead, she had soft bangs. There seemed to be a battle at Hogwarts. There were many red and green sparks behind the older Olivia. Then, a woman appeared, though Olivia couldn’t grasp her features very well as the woman was in the shadows. The woman shot the older Olivia with a black arrow she got from a sack she was holding and it hit her almost near her pounding heart. She (the older Olivia) stared at the arrow, then at the woman, who was cackling. The older Olivia seemed to be looking at someone. It was Amelia and Isabell. Amelia also had battle scars and her hair was still short, though Isabell barely had any injuries, and her hair reached her shoulders and she also had soft bangs. They were battling with Professor Mcgonagall and shooting three people with black cloaks with stun spells. Then the older Olivia looked at… Albert. His messy hair was a little longer and he had a bloody scar on his face. He was battling a man whose face was covered with a mask. He finally managed to stun him. Albert looked at the shot Olivia. He tried to run over to her to help, but another masked man had started fighting him. Albert had tears. The older Olivia closed her eyes. When she opened them, they were pure red. There was no room for the sparkling emerald green eyes. The woman cackled maniacally as the older Olivia started floating. Her ruined uniform started to change, until it turned into a black sun-top bodice with an asymmetrical black skirt. Angle black sleeves covered her scarred arms, which weren’t scarred anymore. A black cloak started forming and it landed on her shoulders. Black heels started appearing on her bare feet. Her hair was magically tied into a messy bun. Next to her, a staff with a green orb appeared. She looked at it in curiosity and eagerness and picked it up. The older Olivia pointed it at Albert, who looked at her in shock and fear.
‘L-Liv-’
‘Don’t talk to me like that, you filthy mudblood! It’s Mistress Dragonheart to you! CRUCIO!’
The older Olivia’s spell was so strong that Albert collapsed as he started to scream in pain. Everyone stayed quiet as they watched Albert scream in agony. The older Olivia laughed along with the woman in the shadows. Albert’s screams grew louder by the second.
‘P-p-please, Ol-Olivia. H-help-p me- Am-Amelia-’
Albert continued to scream as he started to float in the air. Olivia started to examine him.
‘Tsk. You are so weak…’
Amelia and Isabell looked at Olivia, who looked back at them with red eyes. Amelia looked at Olivia with scared blue eyes.
‘I haven’t the slightest idea why the pure side of me decided to become friends with a halfblood who is spoiled by her sweet parents and a pureblood who, well… I better get on with it.’
Her voice was dark and cold. She looked at the woman, who nodded eagerly. Albert continued screaming.
‘Olivia, this isn’t you-’ Amelia said as she looked at Olivia with her scared, blue eyes.
‘AVADA KEDAV-’
Olivia woke up, sweating. She checked her watch. It was four in the morning. She barely managed to get up from the bed. Her body was shaking very badly. She got some water and sat by the library. She tried to find a book about dreams, but she wasn’t able to. Her mind kept forming images about her dream. Her parents throwing her, watching Isabell disappear, torturing Albert and almost killing her friends-
Olivia shook her head.
Probably just bad energy and it is most probably a nightmare… Just a nightmare… Not a vision of the future. Totally not a vision!
Olivia thought as she tried to forget about her ‘nightmare’.
There was a loud yawn. Olivia jumped in surprise. It was Albert.
‘G-good morning,’ Olivia said as she cleared her throat.
‘Huh? Oh, you’re awake,’ Albert said as he scratched his head a little. ‘Morning.’
There was silence for a while.
‘D-do y-you want to r-read with me perhaps-’
‘Olivia, this isn’t like you-’ Albert began, noticing the stammering.
‘I’m great, very great. This is the normal, ordinary me!’
Albert laughed then shook his head.
‘Seriously though, something’s up. Do you wanna tell me or not? It’s alright if you don't wanna,’ Albert shrugged.
‘Well, uh, I might have had a little nightmare,’ Olivia said hastily as she picked a random book from a nearby bookshelf.
She started reading it. Albert sat next to her and picked up a book. He started reading too. There was awkward silence for a while. The images of Olivia’s ‘nightmare’ started to form in mind. She started sniffing slightly. Apparently, Albert noticed it.
‘You alright?’
‘What? Oh, yeah. Perfectly fine. It’s just that there’s a little bit of dust here, that’s all,’ Olivia said as she gave a quick toothy smile.
Albert didn’t seem that convinced and continued to read his book.
Awkward silence took over the surroundings. Then, a shadowy figure appeared in front of them.
‘Great, now you read books together and at four thirty?’ a weak voice said.
It was Isabell, fully dressed and her hair still a little bit messy.
‘Good morning,’ Olivia said as she looked everywhere except for Albert and Isabell.
‘I’m really hungry…’ Isabell said, ignoring Olivia.
‘You always are!’
Olivia rolled her eyes.
‘I think I’ll go change in my uniform,’ Albert said suddenly as he placed the book back in its rightful place.
‘I’ll do the same thing,’ Olivia said as she rushed up the stairs and into the Girls’ Dormitory.
Olivia returned after a while to see Isabell stroking Mocha (her pet owl) and writing on a piece of parchment near the fire. Olivia sat quietly next to her as Twilight jumped on her knees, wanting to be stroked by its owner. Twilight purred as Olivia stroked its furry tail.
‘So… what are you doing?’
‘Hm? Oh, I’m doing the conclusion for that essay Snape gave us. He always gives us the most homework. He always gives reasons for us to hate him!’
‘Why didn’t you do it yesterday?’ asked Olivia, still stroking Twilight.
‘I was busy, I guess,’ replied Isabell.
Isabell started writing furiously. So furiously that when she tried to write the dot for ‘i’, she punctured the paper.
‘Reparo,’ Olivia said as she pointed at the parchment, making the big hole disappear.
‘Thanks!’
‘No problem.’
Olivia continued stroking her pet and Isabell continued writing her essay quietly as the minutes went by slowly.
