He Still Cares
Chapter 60
Amelia went back to her Dormitory and felt amazed by what she had just seen. She slowly drifted off to sleep and started dreaming of the future. She dreamt that she went to Olivia and Albert’s wedding. She also dreamt that Isabell was eating a tonne of food. She then dreamt of herself working at the Ministry of Magic. She even imagined that she was Mistress of Magic. But then things started to become darker. Her father dying. Voldemort rising to power. Olivia, Albert and Isabell dead. Bellatrix cackling as she stood on her friends’ bodies-
She woke up, shocked. She was panting slightly and sweating. She glanced at Olivia and Isabell, who were both sleeping; Isabell was snoring slightly.
Amelia yawned and went to the Common Room. She was the first to wake up. She realised that there wasn’t much sunlight right now as the room wasn’t so bright. She tip-toed up the stairs again and checked Olivia’s watch. It was five O’clock in the morning. She decided to sleep again. She was dreaming of rainbow flowers and fat horses, but then suddenly she saw a glass of wine in front of her. Then she saw blurred figures of people. Everything came into focus. She was facing a man with straight brown hair and emerald green eyes. He had black bags under his bloodshot eyes.
‘William, when you say we will kill Dumbledore…’
‘Yes, Owen, I mean it. We are going to kill that old fool.’
Amelia was Mr. Clearwater and she was looking at this man. She recognized her father’s voice and his pale skin colour from his arms which were reaching for the glass of wine in front of her.
‘Owen, you seem to not like that idea, however, I really enjoy it,’ purred a woman who was sitting next to the man. She had long, wavy black hair and dull, frost blue eyes. She looked beautiful and kind looking, yet deep inside she looked very evil.
‘I do like it, Ava, dear! I’m just saying, do you really think that your plan will work? What if someone comes in the way and stops us?’
‘It is well tested,’ said Mr. Clearwater/Amelia coldly.
‘Owen, Owen. We are Death Eaters! We can easily kill anyone and especially that old man. I don’t know why they call him the most powerful wizard, anyways. The Dark Lord is way more powerful!’ the woman shrieked.
‘Ava, we simply cannot overpower someone like that,’ Owen said, starting to turn red.
‘Ava, Owen, calm down. It is settled that we will kill him for The Dark Lord. Then nobody will come in his way and we will bring him back and he will have a body like he once had before,’ Mr. Clearwater/ Amelia said as the two went quiet.
Suddenly there were noises outside. Mr. Clearwater/ Amelia jumped up and walked towards the door. Mr. Clearwater seemed to have put his ear on the door, for he wasn’t looking at it.
‘Are you sure that nobody can hear us William?’ Ava asked, concerned.
‘I have used Muffliato, surely that worked! And we’re in the Shrieking Shack, nobody comes near here anyways!’
‘And did the Dark Lord order you to kill Dumbledore? No. So why not let nature take its course! He is old and… would die of old age!’ Owen yelled as Mr. Clearwater/Amelia sat down and drank some wine.
‘Are you afraid of Dumbledore? A man who is a hundred years old?’ Ava smirked as she grabbed a glass of wine for herself and started gulping it down quickly.
She started hiccupping slightly.
‘You’re judging Dumbledore by his age! The Dark Lord himself is afraid of Dumbledore!’
‘Stop exaggerating, Owen! We are three people, we will overpower that old foo-.’
‘You mean we are four people,’ a cold voice spoke.
Mr. Clearwater/ Amelia turned around to see a man wearing a black cloak with pale skin and platinum blonde hair which reached his shoulder.
‘Lucius, my old friend!’
Owen stood up and shook hands with Mr. Malfoy.
‘Now that we are four, we will easily overpower him!’ Ava said as she placed down her glass aggressively, making it crack slightly.
‘I am not convinced and never will be,’ Owen said, his white face getting paler and paler by the second.
‘Owen, if you don’t want to come, then don’t. But I’ll tell you this: your daughter is at Hogwarts this year. Surely you would want to see if she is like you and would want to practice joining the Dark Lord?’ Mr. Clearwater said convincingly.
‘Y-yes, of course, but you told me that she is friends with your daughter!’
‘Maybe my daughter told her to practice join him! Think of the possibilities here, Owen! The girls might help us with this mission! My daughter has practised joining the Dark Lord and is turning evil as we speak!’
‘Owen, it certainly is an opportunity to see our daughter after eleven years-’
‘But-but how do you know your daughter isn’t like that filthy woman you married, who died, betraying the Dark Lord and Death Eaters?’ Owen argued, interrupting Ava.
Mr. Clearwater stood up so quickly that Mr. Malfoy jumped in surprise. Mr. Clearwater pointed his wand at Owen.
‘DO NOT EVER SPEAK ABOUT MY D-DEAD WIFE LIKE THAT AGAIN!’ he thundered, his wand almost touching Owen’s throat. ‘She never betrayed anyone and her soul was so good and she would have never joined us! It’s not my fault she wasn’t born with an evil soul like us all!’
‘But it is your fault you married her!’ Ava yelled, joining the argument and rising from her chair slowly.
‘I-I loved her! Nothing could have stopped me!’
‘Or did you? Did you actually love h-’ began Ava.
‘Now, now everyone. Our mission is to kill Dumbledore. And here we are arguing about William’s dead wife! Don’t you think we should focus on the plan?’ Mr. Malfoy shouted, trying to stop the argument.
‘Yes, you’re right Lucius,’ said Owen, patting Ava’s shoulder to calm her.
‘Now, I’m sure you all know Nagini?’ Lucius continued.
‘What’s that got to do with the plan?’ Mr. Clearwater/Amelia asked.
‘Don’t you remember what the Dark Lord said? That we must protect that snake? That we must bring it to him when he rises to power? That Nagini is the way he can stay alive?’
‘WHY ARE YOU SAYING HE WILL RISE NOW?’ Owen yelled.
‘You don’t want our Dark Lord to rise to power? Owen, are you out of your mind?’ Ava said, arching her eyebrows.
‘No! I’m just saying stop planning ahead!’ Owed said hastily.
‘Then shut up and let us continue,’ snarled Ava.
‘Thank you Ava. Now, does anyone know where Nagini is?’
Nobody replied. Ava was shifting in her seat.
‘I suppose I do…’ they heard a sudden voice say.
Mrs. Clearwater (Amelia’s stepmother) appeared.
‘Emily? Wh-what are you doing here?’
‘William, darling. Don’t think that I don’t know all about the Dark Lord. I’m also a Death Eater, it’s just that you never saw me.’
Emily smiled a terrible smile, just like when she uncovered Amelia’s dead mother.
‘You-you are a Death Eater? Well that is perfect!’
‘Of course I am, William.’
‘But you told me you were sorted in Gryffindor! Mostly Slytherins are Death Eaters!’
‘What if I was? The Dark Lord accepts anyone with a pure evil soul. And thankfully I do have one.’
She pointed at her heart and black smoke filled around her, then it suddenly vanished.
‘Don’t show off Emily, we can all do that!’ Ava yelled, looking jealous.
Ava also pointed at her heart, but instead of pitch black smoke, it was a shade or two lighter. It vanished. Ava gaped at Emily.
‘It’s your daughter that’s making your soul more… pure,’ Emily smiled.
‘What do you mean my daughter?’ Ava demanded angrily.
‘Learn to hate her like I have been hating that Amelia or whatever her name is.’
Apparently she had thought that her husband wouldn’t care if she said that.
‘So… to make your soul pure evil, you hate on my Amelia? No wonder she hated you the moment she saw you,’ Mr. Clearwater/ Amelia said darkly.
‘You don’t even care about your stupid daughter!’ Emily said through gritted teeth.
‘I CARE ABOUT AMELIA! DON’T YOU DARE TALK ABOUT MY WIFE- I-I MEAN MY AMELIA LIKE THAT!’
Mr. Clearwater had mistaken Amelia for his dead wife as they looked very alike.
‘You still love her. I see…’ Emily looked disgusted. ‘Good thing she’s dead!’
Emily smirked and then cleared her throat as though sympathetic.
Mr. Clearwater looked like he was about to kill her.
‘Meeting dismissed,’ Mr. Clearwater/Amelia said angrily as he headed for the doors. He took a black cloak and wore it, then left his fellow Death Eaters looking at him. One was smiling wickedly, while the other three were shocked. The scene blacked out, and Amelia’s eyes fluttered open. Tears started to form and she got up from her bed. Olivia and Isabell weren’t there. Amelia’s head was filled with thoughts about what she had seen. She quickly wore her uniform and exited the room. She walked down the stairs and saw Olivia and Isabell sitting by the mini- library. Apparently they were waiting for her to wake up.
‘Finally you’re awake. It’s five and… twenty nine minutes,’ Olivia said as she checked her black watch.
