Chapter 58
Isabell woke up suddenly. She had a nightmare. It was two in the morning. Isabell yawned a little and decided to sit by the cosy fire in the Common room. She found a strange map next to her.
‘There’s a forest? Dad never mentioned a forest…’ Isabell whispered to herself.
‘Wouldn’t hurt anybody if I take a little stroll…’
Isabell wore the cloak Amelia had and slowly went out of the room. She tip-toed across almost half of the school. The cloak helped her camouflage in the shadows. She finally reached the gate. Thankfully Filch (the caretaker) had forgotten to close it. She walked towards the Grounds. Hagrid’s hut was quiet. She then spotted large trees across the hut. She hid behind Hagrid’s pumpkin patch to see if anyone was there.
All safe, Isabell thought.
She walked cautiously towards the forest. Strange hooting and shrieking sounds were heard. Isabell thought she saw the shadow of a dog. She started getting worried. Now she could see six shadows. Five small and one huge.
Are my eyes fooling me?
She continued walking deeper into the woods, she walked past trees and more trees and more trees-
Then she heard neighing.
‘Why is there a horse in a forest?’ whispered a confused Isabell.
She realised it wasn’t a horse. The creature had a pink flowing mane and tail. It’s body as white as snow and it had majestic wings. It had two frost blue eyes. On its head, there was a horn. The creature glared at Isabell with its bright blue eyes.
‘Another trespasser,’ the creature neighed.
‘A trespasser?’
‘Ah, you can understand me…’ the creature neighed as its mane flowed softly.
‘W-wait, so you aren’t speaking like a human?’
‘No, I’m speaking my own language. Alicorn language.’
The alicorn continued eating the damp grass on the ground.
‘S-so I can understand alicorn language?’ Isabell was surprised.
‘I think you understand any animal language if you can understand mine,’ the alicorn said as it cleaned the feathers on its wings.
Isabell can understand any animal language? Can Isabell really-There was a sudden scream. The alicorn flew away in fear. Isabell looked around her, trying to see where the scream came from. It was a harsh scream… a boy’s scream. She saw red sparks and then she ran towards them. She found something on the floor… It was a dead unicorn. Silver blood was oozing from it. It was killed very recently. Then there were the six shadows again, huddled closely together. Isabell ran for her life, across Hagrid’s hut, the Grounds. She quickly entered the school and rushed to the Common room. She went straight to the Dormitory and took off her cloak. She was shaking and placed it under her bed and wore her pyjamas. It was three in the morning.
