The Letter From Dumbledore
Chapter 55
It was a normal day. February was chilly and cold. Students learning and attending their classes.
Albert had come to Olivia in the Hospital Wing with a letter.
‘Thanks Albert,’ said Olivia, smiling weakly.
‘I also gave one to Amelia and Isabell, it’s from… well just read it.’
Olivia opened the letter while Albert walked away. It wrote in thin, slanting handwriting:
Dear Olivia, Isabell and Amelia
I would like you to come to my office. You have shown outstanding work so I will teach you a new skill. I am sure you have it since I knew your parents. If anyone asks where you are going, tell them you have an appointment with me and you have my permission. I would like to meet you at 6:30am.
Next Saturday. See you then!
Yours sincerely,
Professor Dumbledore
‘Next Friday?’ asked Isabell, who was in the Common room with Amelia.
‘What could he teach us?’ Amelia asked herself.
‘Wait, tomorrow’s Thursday, we’re gonna meet him after tomorrow!’ Isabell yelled.
She then spotted Amelia looking at her sadly. She quickly looked away. Isabell pressed on her bracelet and she saw the green beams of light which indicated that Olivia had pressed on hers too. Isabell took out her book.
Well, he said he will teach us a new skill!
Amelia’s probably going, will you?
Isabell looked at the ceiling, then at Amelia.
I dunno…
We know why you don’t like Amelia anymore… By we I mean me and Amelia.
Isabell started writing furiously.
How did you know?
Your book, of course…
What?
Nevermind, Madam Pomfrey is telling me to go to bed, good night Isabell.
Good night Olivia.
The green beams of light started fading away as the book reduced in size and was placed inside the bracelet. Isabell headed back to the dormitory and saw Amelia sitting on her bed, her eyes wide open staring at the wall.
There was a long silence. Finally, Amelia got up and started talking in a different, low and dark voice.
‘I know how you feel about me… What your dad said. I know that you know I joined You-Know-Who. I really regret everything,’ said Amelia, her eyes streaming with tears. ‘To be honest… I really missed you. If you want… We can be friends again.’
Isabell was speechless. She thought Amelia would never confess.
‘I was the person who saved Olivia by the way…’
Isabell’s eyes were wide with confusion.
‘I was the person who bought Olivia her broom…’
Isabell was staring closely at Amelia.
‘I was the person who passed on Cho’s broom to Padma...’
Isabell was now completely shocked.
‘I have helped you even if you don’t know it… and I stood up for you, remember?’ Amelia said. ‘Even if I wasn’t allowed to…’
Isabell hurried over to Amelia and gave her a strong, rib-breaking hug.
‘Ok ok,’ said Amelia, barely having enough breath to talk. ‘I get it, you want to be friends again.’
‘Sorry…’ said Isabell awkwardly.
‘It’s ok, you didn’t know.’
Isabell smiled at her and she smiled back.
